In this game he began the scoring with a jumper at 19:37. He’s our go-to-guy to open the game. - The definition of getting killed on the boards: They rebounded 50% of their misses. We rebounded 19% of ours. - We actually did a better job of converting offensive rebounds into points, (9 from 6 O-rebs vs. 20 from 18). They just had a lot more opportunities. - The Tar Heels used that sticky stuff to hold onto the ball: they had only one turnover that wasn’t a Syracuse steal. That’s the lowest number of the season by Su or any opponent, easily. - The Heel’s productivity off of our turnovers, (26 points from 13 turnovers), which JB questioned in his press conference was the most by any SU opponent this year but not unprecedented: we were credited with 31 points off 13 Holy Cross turnovers, for 2.38 per TO. - This game wasn’t about shooting. It was about possession. We manufactured 33 of them. They manufactured 57. - UNC’s 46 points in the paint were the most we’ve given up all year by 8. - We actually out-scored them in our initial sets, (“First Chance Points”), 46-45. It’s the fifth straight game we’ve done that. - We had 42 point s outside the paint to 30. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to overcome their advantage in the paint. - North Carolina attempted 9 more two point shots and scored 26 more points in the paint than we did yet the fouls were equal, so I don’t think you could say we were disadvantaged by the refs, even though it was an ACC road game. (Typically teams that go to the basket to score more will draw more fouls. ) [/QUOTE]
