I will again be doing a report after each game this season and a summary report at the end of the non-conference season, the ACC season and the post season. Net Points (points + rebounds + assists + steals + blocks minus missed field goals and free throws, turnovers and personal fouls) Season net points and average per 40 minutes is in parenthesis. Then figure the offensive rebounds as a percentage of that) We rebounded 15 of our 37 misses = 40.5% They rebounded 7 of their 35 misses = 20.0% Effective Offensive Rebounding (Divide second chance points by the offensive rebounds) We got 19 points on 15 O-Rebs = 1.267 points/O-reb They got 8 points on 7 O-Rebs = 1.143 points/O-reb Unforced Turnovers (Total turnovers – the other team’s steals = unforced turnovers) We had 7 turnovers – 4 steals = 3 unforced They had 11 turnovers – 8 steals = 3 unforced Points per Takeaway (Points off turnovers divided by the number of turnovers the other team had) We had 14 points from 11 takeaways = 1.273 points/takeaway They had 5 points from 7 takeaways = 0.714 points/takeaway Unsettled Situations (Effective offensive rebounding + Points per Takeaway: [Second Chance Point + Points off Turnovers] divided by [Offensive Rebounds + Opposition Turnovers) We had 33 points in 26 unsettled situations = 1.269 points They had 13 points in 14 unsettled situations = 0.929 points Manufactured Possessions (One teams rebounds + the other team’s turnovers) We had 43 + 11 = 54 They had 29 + 7 = 36 Scoring Shooting (Shots made and attempted and the percentage for two point goal attempts, three point attempts and free throws) We were 17 for 29 on twos, (58.6%), 9 for 31 on threes (29.0%) and 11 for 17 on frees (64.7%) They were 11 for 22 on twos, (50.0%), 6 for 28 on threes (21.4%) and 9 for 12 on frees (75.0%) Points (PIP= points in the paint, POP = points outside the paint, which is total points – PIP –free throws made, TREY: points from three point shots, TZ= Twilight Zone, which is POP – TREY, two point jumpers from outside the paint, FBP = fast break points POTO= points off turnovers) We had 32 PIP, 29 POP, 27 TREY, 2 TZ, 14 POTO, 9 FBP They had 22 PIP, 18 POP, 18 TREY, 0 TZ, 5 POTO, 7 FBP Fast Break Percentage (FBP/(defensive rebounds + blocks + steals) We scored 9 FBP in 41 opportunities (22.0%) They scored 7 FBP in 33 opportunities (21.2%) First Chance/Second Chance (FCP is First Chance Points, which is total points - second chance points – fast break points – free throws made. Comments - Hidden by his lack of shooting success was this line from Frank Howard: 6 assists and 4 steals vs. 2 turnovers. He makes a difference even when not 100%. - Tyus Battle had 57 net points in the last three games and -2 in this one. - Robert Braswell had 7NP in 5 minutes of play. Per 40 minutes that’s 56NP! - We had 15 offensive rebounds in this game. We had a total of 10 in the previous two games.
