Comments - Frank Howard hit two second half field goals: 57 seconds in and with 57 seconds left. - Getting 48% of our misses was easily the best offensive rebounding we’ve done this season. The previous high was 43% vs. Colgate. - We missed 42 field goal attempts -25 from within the arc. One 2 of them defensive fouls were called, (so officially we missed 40, 23 from two point range). That’s 5%, including 8% of our two point misses. The two calls came with 4:13 and 34 seconds left, respectively. We weren’t fouled on our first 35 misses. The difference between the likelihood of drawing a foul, (3.25-1.67 = 1.58) was easily the largest of the season, (second place was an advantage in out favor vs. Colgate (2.00-0.79 = 1.21). There were three games where the difference in free throws granted per fouls was greater than 0.71. (1.13-0.42). - I got the impression that that was a fast paced game but it was not a fast break game: only 4 fast break points between the two teams. - We won the game from the twilight zone: 16-4, +12 in a game we won by 10. - Assists are the one statistic that is an opinion: we had 11 on 28 makes while they had 16 on only 20 makes. Both teams shot the same sort of shots, mostly jumpers. We didn’t go to the basket from way out as we usually do. There was usually a pass before a shot for both teams. - Much of the pre-game talk was about how Notre Dame is down to 7 scholarship players, yet their bench out-scored ours 6-13. [/QUOTE]
