[QUOTE="SWC75, post: 4499939, member: 289"] I will again be doing a report after each game this season and a summary report at the end of each month. (I’ve eliminated some stats from previous years to streamline this post.) This is limited to recruited scholarship players only. Net Points (points + rebounds + assists + steals + blocks minus missed field goals and free throws, turnovers and personal fouls) Average net points/40 by position, (based on averaging 20+ minutes per game), since the 1980-81 season: Centers 18.6; Power Forwards: 18.4; Small Forwards: 16.1, Shooting Guards: 13.3; Point Guards: 13.5 Judah Mintz +20NP in 34 minutes = +153NP in 401 minutes = +15.3NP/40 for season Quadir Copeland +15NP in 13 minutes = +19NP in 79 minutes = +9.6NP/40 for season Maliq Brown +14NP in 27 minutes = +78NP in 130 minutes = +24.0NP/40 for season Jesse Edwards +12NP in 33 minutes = +291NP in 400 minutes = +29.1NP/40 for season Joe Girard +11NP in 33 minutes = +128NP in 426 minutes = +12.0NP/40 for season Justin Taylor +3NP in 14 minutes = +53NP in 195 minutes = +10.9NP/40 for season Chris Bell +2NP in 13 minutes = +40NP in 257 minutes = +6.2NP/40 for season Mounir Hima +2NP in 7 minutes = +40NP in 89 minutes = +18.0NP/40 for season Symir Torrence +1NP in 13 minutes = +63NP in 181 minutes = +13.9NP/40 for season Benny Williams -1NP in 13 minutes = +97NP in 354 minutes = +11.0NP/40 for season DNP coach’s decision John Bol Ajak 0NP in 0 minutes = +34NP in 103 minutes = +13.2NP/40 for season Peter Carey 0NP in 0 minutes = -2NP in 20 minutes = -4.0NP/40 for season Injured or ill and couldn’t play None Suspended None Redshirting None Out for the year None Left Team None Awards Offensive Dude of the Game, (O-Dog) (Points plus assists) Judah Mintz 24 points and 4 assists = 28 Shooting Efficiency (Points minus missed field goal and free throw attempts) Joe Girard 16 points – 6mfg – 0mft = +10 and Judah Mintz 24 points – 10mfg – 4mft = +10 Scoring Efficiency (Percentage of points scored divided by points they would have scored if they made every shot- minimum 10 possible points) Quadir Copeland 10 points of 13 = 76.9% My Man (Who played the most minutes?) Judah Mintz 34 minutes TEAM STATS Possession Rebounding (Add each team’s offensive rebounds to their opponent’s defensive rebounds. Then figure the offensive rebounds as a percentage of that) We rebounded 15 of our 45 misses = 33.3% They rebounded 14 of their 34 misses = 41.2% Unsettled Situations [Second Chance Points+ Points off Turnovers] divided by [Offensive Rebounds + Opposition Turnovers) We had 41 points in 31 unsettled situations = 1.323 points/situation They had 14 points in 23 unsettled situations = 0.609 points/situation Manufactured Possessions (One teams rebounds + the other team’s turnovers) We had 35 + 16 = 51 They had 44 + 9 = 53 Scoring Shooting (Shots made and attempted and the percentage for two point goal attempts, three point attempts and free throws) We were 24 for 45 on twos, (53.3%), 6 for 24 on threes (25.0%) and 16 for 25 on frees (64.0%) They were 15 for 28 on twos, (53.6%), 13 for 32 on threes (40.6%) and 15 for 21 on frees (71.4%) Points (PIP= points in the paint, “The Inner Sanctum” POP = points outside the paint, which is total points – PIP -free throws made OL= points from “The Outer Limits” (three point shots) TZ= “Twilight Zone”, which is POP – TREY, (two point jumpers from outside the paint) FT = Free Throws We had 40 PIP, 26 POP, 24 OL, 2 TZ, 16 FT They had 28 PIP, 41 POP, 39 OL, 2 TZ, 15 FT Fast Break Percentage (FBP/(defensive rebounds + blocks + steals) We scored 27 FBP in 38 opportunities (71.1%) They scored 17 FBP in 38 opportunities (44.7%) First Chance/Second Chance (FCP is First Chance Points, which is total points - second chance points – fast break points – free throws made. SCP is second chance points.) We had 24 FCP and 15 SCP They had 48 FCP and 4 SCP Starters/Bench (Total points – bench points = starters points) Our starters scored 55 points and our bench scored 27 points. Their starters scored 75 points and their bench scored 9 points. Efficiency Assists (The percentage of a team’s baskets that were assisted) We assisted 16 of our 30 field goals = 55.3% They assisted 20 of their 28 field goals = 71.4% Team Offensive Possession Efficiency (Possessions: Field goals attempted - offensive rebounds + turnovers + 47.5% of free throws attempted. Efficiency is total points divided by possessions) We scored 82 points in 75 possessions = 1.093 points/ possession They scored 84 points in 72 possessions = 1.167 points/possession It was a 147-possession game. If we just use FGA + (47.5% FTA) and thus count an offensive rebound as an additional possession and a turnover as a lost possession: We scored 82 points in 81 possessions = 1.012 points/ possession They scored 84 points in 70 possessions = 1.200 points/possession Team Shooting Efficiency (Points minus missed field goals and free throws) We scored 82 points, missed 39 field goals and missed 9 free throws = net +34 They scored 84 points, missed 32 field goals and missed 6 free throws = net +46 (Points scored divided by potential points scored if we’d made every shot) We scored 82 on 45 two-point attempts, 24 three-point attempts and 25 free throw attempts = 82 of a possible 187 points = 43.9% of possible points scored. They scored 84 on 28 two-point attempts, 32 three-point attempts and 21 free throw attempts = 84 of a possible 173 points = 48.6% of possible points scored. Fouls (Most fouls are called on two point shot attempts.) We attempted 45 two-point shots and were fouled 19 times = 2.37 They attempted 28 two-point shots and were fouled 15 times = 1.87 Comments: - Quadir Copeland’s NP per 40 went from 2.4 to 9.6. 15 of the 19NP he’s earned this year came against Pittsburgh. I suspect he’s going to get more playing time now: can he make the most of it? - We had 41 points in unsettled situations to 14, (it’s amazing we lost with that number). - 16 takeovers, (vs. 9), 26 points off them and 27 fast break points suggest that we are, indeed a good pressing team. - The fact that this Jim Boeheim team had led in bench scoring in 6 of 13 games and in starter scoring only 8 of 13 games indicates Jim’s struggles in determining his final rotation – and that the starting line-up may need some adjustment.
