I will again be doing a report after each game this season and a summary report at the end of each month. (I’ve eliminated some stats from previous years to streamline this post.)

Net Points
(points + rebounds + assists + steals + blocks minus missed field goals and free throws, turnovers and personal fouls)

(season totals double-checked from Cuse.com stats on 3/1)

Alan Griffin +27NP in 30 minutes = +51NP in 98 minutes = +20.8NP/40 for season
Quincy Guerrier +16NP in 30 minutes = +69NP in 89 minutes = +31.0NP/40 for season
Joe Girard +16NP in 35 minutes = +18NP in 104 minutes = +6.9NP/40 for season
Kadary Richmond +14NP in 31 minutes = +49NP in 75 minutes = +26.1NP/40 for season
Woody Newton +13NP in 22 minutes = +23NP in 36 minutes = +25.6NP/40 for season
Marek Dolezaj +8NP in 24 minutes = +51NP in 92 minutes = +22.2NP/40 for season
Frank Anselem +6NP in 9 minutes = +5NP in 17minutes = +11.8NP/40 for season
John Bol Ajak +2NP in 7 minutes = 0NP in 16minutes = 0.0NP/40 for season
Robert Braswell +1NP in 9 minutes = -8NP in 27 minutes = -11.9NP/40 for season
Jesse Edwards 0NP in 6 minute = +1NP in 8 minutes = +5.0NP/40 for season

Chaz Owens

Injured and couldn’t play
Bourama Sidibie (+1NP in 4 minutes = +10.0NP/40 for season)

Suspended
Buddy Boeheim (+17NP in 37 minutes = +18.4NP/40 for season)

Redshirting
None (that we know of)

Out for the year
None

Left Team

Awards

Offensive Dude of the Game, (O-Dog)
(Points plus assists)
Alan Griffin 23 points and 5 assists = 28

Shooting Efficiency
(Points minus missed field goal and free throw attempts)
Alan Griffin 23 points – 3mfg – 0mft = +20

Scoring Efficiency
(Percentage of points scored divided by points they would have scored if they made every shot- minimum 10 possible points)
Alan Griffin 23 points of 31 = 74.2%

My Man
(Who played the most minutes?)
Joe Girard 32 minutes

TEAM STATS

Possession

Rebounding
(Add each team’s offensive rebounds to their opponent’s defensive rebounds. Then figure the offensive rebounds as a percentage of that)
We rebounded 5 of our 26 misses = 19.2%
They rebounded 8 of their 44 misses = 18.2%

Effective Offensive Rebounding
(Divide second chance points by the offensive rebounds)
We got 2 points on 5 O-Rebs = 0.400 points/O-Reb
They got 5 points on 8 O-Rebs = 0.625 points/O-Reb

Unforced Turnovers
(Total turnovers – the other team’s steals = unforced turnovers)
We had 16 turnovers – 8 steals = 8 unforced
They had 15 turnovers – 7 steals = 8 unforced

Points per Takeover
(Points off turnovers divided by the number of turnovers the other team had)
We had 18 points from 15 takeovers = 1.200 points/takeaway
They had 5 points from 16 takeovers = 0.3125 points/takeaway

Unsettled Situations
(Effective offensive rebounding + Points per Takeover: [Second Chance Points+ Points off Turnovers] divided by [Offensive Rebounds + Opposition Turnovers)
We had 20 points in 20 unsettled situations = 1.000 points
They had 10 points in 24 unsettled situations = 0.417 points

Manufactured Possessions
(One teams rebounds + the other team’s turnovers)
We had 41 + 15 = 56
They had 29 + 16 = 45

Hustle Stats
One of the radio sponsors gives an award to the team that had the most “hustle stats”, which they define as rebounds + steals + blocks. I decided to keep track of that, too:
We had 41 + 6 + 7 = 54
They had 29 + 0 + 8= 37

Scoring

Shooting
(Shots made and attempted and the percentage for two point goal attempts, three point attempts and free throws)
We were 13 for 21 on twos, (61.9%), 15 for 30 on threes (50.0%) and 16 for 20 on frees (80.0%)
They were 10 for 31 on twos, (32.3%), 7 for 27 on threes (25.9%) and 11 for 15 on frees (73.3%)
Combined percentages were: 619 + 500 + 800 = 1,919 vs. 323 + 259 + 733 = 1,315 = +604

Points
(PIP= points in the paint, “The Inner Sanctum”
POP = points outside the paint, which is total points – PIP -free throws made
OL= points from “The Outer Limits” (three point shots)
TZ= “Twilight Zone”, which is POP – TREY, (two point jumpers from outside the paint)
FBP = fast break points
POTO= points off turnovers

We had 20 PIP, 51 POP, 21 OL, 6 TZ, 18 POTO, 22 FBP
They had 10 PIP, 31 POP, 45 OL, 10 TZ, 5 POTO, 13 FBP

Fast Break Percentage
(FBP/(defensive rebounds + blocks + steals)
We scored 24 FBP in 31 opportunities (77.4%)
They scored 9 FBP in 20 opportunities (45.0%)

First Chance/Second Chance
(FCP is First Chance Points, which is total points - second chance points – fast break points – free throws made. SCP is second chance points.)
We had 47 FCP and 5 SCP
They had 23 FCP and 2 SCP

Starters/Bench
(Total points – bench points = starters points)
Our starters scored 66 points and our bench scored 21 points
Their starters scored 42 points and their bench scored 10oints

Assists
(The percentage of a team’s baskets that were assisted)
We assisted 24 of our 28 field goals = 85.7%
They assisted 13 of their 17 field goals = 76.5%

Team Offensive Possession Efficiency
(Possessions: Field goals attempted - offensive rebounds + turnovers + 47.5% of free throws attempted. Efficiency is total points divided by possessions)
We scored 87 points in 72 possessions = 1.208 points/ possession
They scored 52 points in 72 possessions = 0.722 points/possession
It was a 144 possession game.

If we just use FGA + (47.5% FTA) and thus count an offensive rebound as an additional possession and a turnover as a lost possession:
We scored 87 points in 61 possessions = 1.426 points/ possession
They scored 52 points in 65 possessions = 0.800 points/possession

Team Shooting Efficiency

(Points minus missed field goals and free throws)

We scored 87 points, missed 23 field goals and missed 4 free throws = net +60
They scored 52 points, missed 41 field goals and missed 4 free throws = net +7
(Points scored divided by potential points scored if we’d made every shot)

We scored 87 on 21 two point attempts, 30 three point attempts and 20 free throw attempts = 87 of a possible 152 points = 57.2% of possible points scored.
They scored 52 on 31 two point attempts, 27 three point attempts and 15 free throw attempts = 52 of a possible 158 points = 32.9% of possible points scored.

Fouls

(Most fouls are called on two point shot attempts.)
We attempted 21 two point shots and were fouled 20 times = 1.05
They attempted 31 two point shots and were fouled 16 times = 1.94

Comments

- The ‘G Men’ continue to dominate. Quincy Guerrier won all the individual awards vs. Niagara. Alan Griffin won all of them vs. Rider. Joe Girard, meanwhile leads us in minutes played. These guys scored 55 of our 87 points, out-scoring Rider by themselves.

- It was not a game for offensive rebounding. Only 13 of 70 rebounds, (18.6%) were secured by the team that shot the ball. I’m not sure why. 57 of the 109 field goal attempts were threes, (52.3%). But in the Niagara game 59 of 125 shot attempts were threes (47.2%) and 24 of 83 rebounds were by the offense (28.9%). In the Bryant game the figures were 72 of 146 shots were from three (49.3%) and 25 of 91 rebounds were offensive (27.4%). Maybe it just comes down to: do you want to go get an offensive rebound?

- We had 14 second chance points vs. Bryant, 11 vs. Niagara and 2 in this game. We got one put-back the whole game. Against Rider.

- We are +30 in points off turnovers this year: 55 from 53 vs. 25 from 47. As a result we have a big lead in points from ‘unsettled situations: 82 from 92 vs. 41 from 76. I think the fact that everyone can score and everyone can pass helps us in these situations. (No kidding…)

Why do you list Buddy as “Suspended” and Chaz Owens as just a DNP ?

I didn't create a separate category for Covid isolation. Owens didn't play so i assume that was the coach's decision.
