We were more likely to get calls when attempting two point shots and got more shots per foul. Neither was close.

Comments

- I’ve always had a rule of thumb that a player who averages 10.0NP per 40 minutes is a starter-level player. Even with the nadir of the Virginia game, we now have 7 such players. We’ll see how that holds up as we move on.
- “Mighty” Joe Girard missed a trey with 9:17 to go in the game. Had it gone in, he’d have had a ‘perfect’ game: 2 for 2 inside the arc, 6 for 6 outside of it and 5 for 5 from the line.
- It was not a game for offensive rebounding: the two teams grabbed only 14 of their 66 misses. Maybe Q-G would be persuaded to do something about that for us? We got only three second chance points: Seattle got 9.
- We are a good ball-hawking team but Seattle matched us with 8 steals and one more takeaway, (14 vs. 13). That means we were too loose with the ball, which could be fatal against an ACC defense. Overall, Seattle had 23 points in unsettled situations, (offensive rebounds and turnovers) to our 15.
- We won the game by hitting 79% of our two point shots and getting to the line 36 times.
- We actually got out-scored in our initial sets, (First Chance Points), 36-39.
- Seattle attempted 37 two point shots to our 24 yet we went to the line 36 times to their 14. We can ignore that but I’ll bet Seattle isn’t.
