I could have sworn that we were badly out-rebounded in that game but we got 40% of our misses and they got 31% of theirs. The fact that we couldn’t take full advantage of those extra opportunities (0.76 points per offensive rebound), impact our impression of how the rebounding was going. A lot of those offensive rebounds were part of trips that came up empty anyways. - We had 11 unforced turnovers, (that weren’t steals), a season high. Sometimes we just lost the dribble. Again taking advantage of opportunities was key. We got 9 points from their 9 turnovers. They got 32 points off of our 19 turnovers. No other opponent had gotten more than 15 in our prior games. Part of the reason is that they had 18 fast break points to our 5. Who says you can’t run in modern basketball? - In the end it was about making jump shots. Points in the paint were equal 32-32, (although they made them in in fewer shots, shooting 63% inside the arc to our 42%). They had 48 POP, (points outside the paint) to our 16: 32 from the arc and 12 from the Twilight Zone while we had 12 and 4. That’s 32 of the 33 point victory margin. - Normally in a blow- out the winning team’s bench dramatically out-scores the loser’s bench as the loser’s starters stayed in much longer. (Our bench out-scored Eastern Michigan’s 43-29.) Our bench outscored theirs, 23-22. Their starting line-up outscored ours 37-71. Losing Taureen Thompson to foul trouble didn’t help but it was far from the whole story. - A game after winning every quarter, we lost every quarter. - The ratio of our two point field goal attempts to times we drew a foul, (43/17-2.53) was our highest of the season. We didn’t lose a 33 point game because of the refs but it didn’t help that they were calling nothing inside when we had the ball. [/QUOTE]
