Comments:
- - This was easily our best offensive rebounding game, getting 42.9% of our misses. We had 37.5% against Arizona State. The only other game where we won the rebounding battle but lost the game was VCU, another tough defensive team.
- Two point field goal percentage is often a determinate of victory. We’d won that battle three games in a row but came up way short in this one:
Georgetown 22/42 = .523 vs. 14/29 = .483
Brown 22/40 = .550 vs 14/36 = .389
Cornell 26/37 = .703 vs. 8/19 = .421
Virginia 12/30 = .400 vs. 23/37 = .622
- We are 4-1 when we score more points from the twilight Zone this season , 3-5 when we don’t. We didn’t get a single point from there in this game. Virginia kept hitting those medium range jumpers we couldn’t stop, some in the paint and some just outside of it. The had 40 points in the paint to our 24 and many of those were jumpers.
- We are 1-6 when losing the “First Chance Points” stat and last night we lost it big-time, 26-55.
- We are 0 for 13 in bench scoring. Even in the blow-out wins, our bench scored less than Lafayette and Brown.
- If both teams had made all their shots, we’d have won by 29 points.
- I think the reason why they were fouled so few times on their two point shots is that we weren’t defending them at all.
