[QUOTE="SWC75, post: 107601, member: 289"] Take all the positives: points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks and subtract the negatives: missed field goals, miss free throws, turnovers and fouls. The result is “Net Points.” (NP). M = minutes. Scoop Jardine +21NP in 31M season: +75NP in 160M per 40M: +18.8NP CJ Fair +13NP in 31M season: +88NP in 200M per 40M: +17.6NP Fab Melo +11NP in 26M season: +59NP in 176M per 40M: +13.4NP Brandon Triche +11NP in 35M season: +81NP in 188M per 40M: +17.2NP Kris Joseph +11NP in 36M season: +106NP in 226M per 40M: +18.8NP Baye Moussa Keita +2NP in 14M season: +40NP in 96M per 40M: +16.7NP Michael Carter-Williams 0NP in 0M season: +26NP in 93M per 40M: +11.2NP Mookie Jones 0NP in 0M season: 0NP in 26M per 40M: 0.0NP Rakeem Christmas 0NP in 2M season: +32NP in 106M per 40M: +12.1NP James Southerland 0NP in 11M season: +97NP in 126M per 40M: +30.8NP Dion Waiters -3NP in 14M season: +72NP in 171M per 40M: +16.8NP Comment: James Southerland has 97 net points against Fordham, Manhattan. Albany Colgate and Eastern Michigan. He has 0 net points against Virginia tech, Stanford and Florida. We went basically 8 deep in this game. Christmas did the opening tip and was shortly pulled out, (because we had to cover Florida’s guards), and Carter-Williams and Jones didn’t play at all. Shooting Breakdown: SU was23/47 from inside the arc, (.489-we are.537 for the season), 3/17 from outside, (.176) and 17/21 from the line (.810). Florida was 17/31 (.548), 9/26, (.346). and 7/11, (.636) 13 of our 26 baskets were assisted, (50%), vs. 15 of Florida’s 26, (58%). Rebounding: Syracuse had 17 offensive and 23 defensive rebounds. Florida had 10 offensive and 23 defensive rebounds. That means that when we missed, we got the rebound 43% of the time. When they missed, they got the rebound 30% of the time. Florida had 20 turnovers, of which 10 were Syracuse steals, (50%). Syracuse had 14 turnovers of which 8 were Florida steals, (57%). We had 60 “manufactured” possessions, (our rebounds + their turnovers). They had 47. We’ve been at least +12 in every game except Stanford, when we were +1. And, thanks to Blacksquirrels and Knicks411, I now understand how to compute “points per possession, (field goal attempts – offensive rebounds + turnovers plus 47.5% of free throws attempted) and here they are: Syracuse: 64 FGA minus 17 offensive rebounds plus 14 turnovers plus 47.5% of 21 free throws = 70.975 possessions. The possessions can’t be more than one off so I’ll call that 71 possessions in which we scored 72 points or 1.014 points per possession. For the season it’s 1.181. Florida: 57-10+20 plus 47.5% of 11= 72.225 possessions. Let’s call that 72 possessions, (so we won’t be more than one off) in which they scored 68 points or 0.944 points per possession. For the season it’s 0.848. Dry stretches were a problem last year- we’d go 8-10 minutes with the offense not functioning. I decided it should be a goal to score at least 15 points in every 10 minute “quarter” of the game, (college is the only level that doesn’t have quarters). You want to score more than that, of course, but if we can avoid falling under 15 in any ten minute period we should have a good scoring average because we’ll have 20 and 25 point quarters as well. The “quarterly” splits in this game were 14-14, 17-13, 13-17, 28-24. We’ve had only three sub 15 point quarters this year and lost only five of them (of 32). 8-0 and 23 to go LET’S GO ORANGE!!!
