New Announcement on Training Camp

The team will be spending a week of it's training camp at Fort Drum.
The team and staff are excited for this experience.!
I think the football and basketball teams have spent part of a day there in the past. A whole week? Wow. Sounds like DM is going Junction Boys on the team.

If I was a player, I will be training really hard right now to prepare.

Great for the players and Fort Drum. Marrone is going all out on security to keep the team under wraps. ;)

thats pretty cool. good bonding period.

That is good in a couple fronts. One, it is a positive for the players but it is also a marketing tool with FD to become fannies in the seats at the Dome.

Bingo. Good way to grab some fans. If tickets aren't selling well, give them to the military members to get some bodies in the seats.

I spoke with the box office a couple of day ago and she said the box office is very busy. Preferred seats and season ticket renewals are due today. Kudos to SU for have a four month payment plan for both football and basketball. You could actually by a season ticket for football and pay $25 a month over four months. That's cheaper than going to the movies.

I would guess the first week, when the emphasis is on conditioning drills and the need for equipment and fields is less. Considering the venue, a "boot camp" mentality might be a good approach.
Regardless, I think the change in venue will help camp from becoming stale.

The payment plan option was for football only I think. Not basketball.

hmm. when I went to my account months ago, there was an option to do football in 4 payments (tho I didnt use it), but I never saw an option for payments on basketball, just that they would be due July 27.

nevermind my last post. i found out you could do that. i just never paid attention as i paid it in full on the phone.

Last year for hoops was only for a two month payment plan. This year it's four months.

Soooo....I'm guessing this is another creative way of keeping practices closed

This is either a great idea or a non-event. But, if it gives the troops some enjoyment then it makes it a great idea.

I think it is another indication that Coach Marrone is really bearing down this year.

It should be a good experience for the players.

I believe, when all is said and done, this will be a great experience for the team. The players and coaches are excited about the experience and it will afford the team to bond while getting away from the possible distractions of being on campus. Also, from what I hear, the coaches have an interesting experience set up for the team while at Ft. Drum. This should be officially announced soon.

You know the way that Doug has approached this season with practice off limits and now moving part of training camp i wonder if it just might work out to have 7 away games?

The past 2 seasons have been complete opposites. 2010 we go 2-4 at home and 5-1 on the road, then last season we go 4-3 at home and 1-4 on the road. I just hope that all the changes Doug is implementing will atleast have us competitive in all the games and not just home or away.
