New article on CTE and football

Report on a new study by Harvard from our board. Found that the biggest risk factor in football was repeated blows to the head, regardless of whether concussive or not.
Isn't that what's been said since CTE was brought to the forefront? It's really been people that didn't understand what was being said that reduced it to only a concussion discussion.

Totally agree. I can't say for certain, but I'm pretty sure that the doctor who found CTE said the same thing about the effects of repeated impacts in his first discussions of it.

I think in the next 10-15 years the helmets will get that padded top on it that you see in practice photos.

NFL is king but this type of thing they need to stay ahead of and be a safety innovator.

I will look for the article when I get a chance, but supposedly there is little evidence that those extra pads help at all. I believe one of the manufacturers is being sued for making false claims.

That makes sense. Obviously stopping impact directly do your head is good, but I thought concussions primarily come from the momentum of the brain hitting the skull?
