IT - great post as always. The two biggest "what ifs" for me in recent SU lacrosse playoff history is, what if Brian Mcgill had taken more face-offs against Duke in the 2013 title game, and what if Tyson Bomberry had guarded Pat Spencer last year? Obviously Mellen is/was the best defender on the team, but sometimes you have to realize certain players don't match up well with others. Like you point out, on paper, it seems like this year's team will have a good mix of speed/size on the defensive end. Hopefully the staff does a better job of picking the best matchups (like they did against Albany) and not playing up the best story line (against Loyola). Anyways, I should have done a bit more research before posting about the size of incoming recruits, it does appear as though Olexo and Witherspoon are pretty big guys (6'2 and 6'4). It just sort of struck me that Drago, Hapney, Kol and Gonsiorek all had similar builds. If they play like Mellen/Kennedy that is great, but have to keep in mind the match ups like Spencer and Tehoka that calls for something you can't teach/learn (size). Seems like the smaller guys are the more highly regarded players as of right now, so will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
