Class of 2025 New Commit: Ted Rawson (ON / NJ: Lawrenceville) A/M, flip from OSU (7/6/24)

Ted Rawson ’25, midfield, Lawrenceville (N.J.) – Ohio State

The Ontario native finished with four goals. It’s no surprise to see a Canadian finisher thriving in Jon Posner‘s offense, because we’ve seen that basically every year since Posner started coaching. Per official Canadian lacrosse rules, off-hands are not a thing, so Rawson just finds a way to finish everything as a lefty. He made some nice plays happen on the receiving end of Sawyer English dodges, but he also just showed that he can be the perfect complementary piece to a good passer. Watch how he moves here to get open off of a seal inside to catch and finish a pass from Connor Gately.

(click on link, it is worth watching).

That’s terrific work right there. Rawson was able to cash in some inside opportunities in this game, and if you leave him open for a split second, it’s over.

Great pickup for the Orange. Rawson has a really nice shooting stroke, he can fire it from distance with no wasted movement. I also really like his passing, he’s really adept at finding teammates on the crease with passes that look like shots. Definitely not just a “finisher” which a lot of Canadians get labeled as.

His high school midfield running mate Sawyer English was ranked as a top 50 recruit, while Rawson was not. That said, in their end of year write up on Lawrenceville, IL said Rawson was perhaps the teams best midfielder. Hard not to see him being a Power 100 recruit by the end of his senior season (if not more).

Also, nice to see them flip a player who had family connections at a rival (his brother Chuck goes to Hopkins). Additionally it’s great to get commitment from a Lawrenceville player, finally, after missing out on Kilrain. Hopefully it leads to more down the road!

With Hahn, Meyer, Pike and now Rawson, that’s a good offensive grouping for the class of ‘25. There could be some opportunities for early playing time when they show up (Birtwistle, English and Hiltz will be departing). It seems like Rawson could be a guy to step in right away.

Lots of highlight videos for Rawson, here’s another more recent one:

Welcome Ted,

Good stuff from Rawson in this one. Comes out as a middie but they often put him in a spot where you would usually see the left wing attack. Consistently has a long pole matchup and still makes quite a bit happen. He is #10. Nice little play at 1:31:50 in this. Tough one handed catch on the wing, without missing a beat he blows by the long pole matchup and sticks it on the run. Plenty of other good stuff here too.

Also this is less relevant for us, but Lawrenceville is one of the few high school programs with a legit pretty to watch team offense. Posner certainly knows what he is doing.
