New dome field turf?

http://www.syracuse.com/orangefootb...ger_matt_keller_recap_official_visit_wee.html

Keller mentioned another perk of the highly anticipated facility — it will feature the same turf as the Carrier Dome, which will undergo a surface change before next season. A call to SU Athletics chief of communications Joe Giansante regarding the turf type was not immediately returned.

Just gonna rip everything up and play on green-painted concrete. Trying to recapture that hard-nosed image that kinda tanked (along with the season) this year.

An all Orange Field! Boise went with blue turf we should Orange Turf. Since we don't wear Orange uniforms might as well get some Orange on the field on game-days

(im just kidding by the way people)

Time to bring this back

I just thought it was funny that we heard about this from a recruit rather than an announcement by SU.

Our turf design is fine. I like the huge orange S in the middle of the field and Orange and Syracuse endzones.

I believe FieldTurf has a 10 year life before it needs to be replaced. So it makes sense we are going to get new FieldTurf.

No surprise. I mean the fact that SU isn't feeding the local media with behind the scenes access to the IPF is a joke. Coming off a 3-9 season, you'd think they would be going all out to get some positive news, but instead Giansante is worried about "leaked" photos. Sorry for sounding like a broken record, but what the hell is SU paying this guy to do?

He's getting paid to stop the leaks?

Maybe SU wants to make a big media event out of the "grand opening", so they're trying to keep all the details under wraps until then.

I think this was discussed when we went from Big East to ACC and switched the badging vs ripping it out. The logic there was the current turf has a couple more years of use left so would make sense theyre changing it now. Smart to have the identical turf as the IPF as well.

So, if someone were to sneak into the IPF and take a few "unauthorized" photos, we'd know what to expect. ;)

He's getting paid to promote SU Athletics. What's the benefit from holding back on information for a grand opening instead of providing frequent updates about the progress of the building?

Check his Twitter- @JoeGiansante and tell me how much promotion of SU he's doing.

If I was local I'd try and get a janitorial job at the IPF so I could give undercover brother reports of which players are making the most of it and how they look in the process.

A master of the custodial arts if you will

Pretty sure you just need to get on Instagram and follow the team and you'll see who's in there working out.

I like it. It will go with the all blue uniforms.

Endzones should be painted Orange with blue lettering though instead of the opposite and what we have now. Minor pet-peeve of mine. lol

I know stern said he was joking, but its clear SU was trying to do something to spark interest in the uniforms, why not try to do the same thing with the turf too? It worked for Boise St, people always became enamored with their field because it was blue. Idk, wouldn't be totally against it I guess, but I also like change and I like to be bold. The Jerseys were a complete failure, so why not try to wow people with the field turf. Im sure a Sliver field ;) would look great!!

Well, he retweeted a photo of the IPF under construction on September 30th.

It would match all those seat backs that we can expect to see next season. Poor Dan Bartlett gonna have his work cut out for him!
