1. I think everyone has the whole nepotism chain backwards. My guess is the only reason we got this guy has QB coach is because of his relationship to Babers... I don't think Dino is doin this guy a favor, I think its Martin is doing Babers a favor. If Coach Martin made it known he wanted a college gig, he could have had his pick of schools in Texas, and in general the Big 12 to go to... yet he choose to go to one 1500 miles away. You don't think Jimbo would find a place for him on his staff, especially given that someone mentioned that Martin's son is on the team? I do agree that it could get awkward if things go south for some reason but I don't see that happening... this guy is a proven commodity.

2. I do agree with the take that this move makes it more likely that Babers is here for the long run. Sure Babers could pick up and leave and take Coach Martin with him... but if you are thinking about leaving even in two or three years I would think the last thing you would want to do is convince a family member to move 1500 miles away and turn their life upside down. Especially given in point 1... Coach Martin would not lack for any suitors. I think with this this hire if we go 7-5 or something like that next year, and some just below the big boy program comes calling, Babers is much less likely to jump ship. He is building roots in Syracuse.

My suspicion is that that the SU AD has stepped up its game and is giving Babers whatever he wants to make him happy.
