I think it's DCs way of dealing with tempo which they all think is a BS way of playing offense, so they justify their unethical behavior rather than getting their D into the shape it needs to be play vs a tempo offense. It's the shortcut method.

When a ref stops the clock for an injury, does the D get to sub anyone at any position or is it just that injured guy? Because part of the advantage of going fast is that the D can't sub if you don't. If the DC knows they are getting killed because of certain personnel, do they fake an injury to stop that specific disadvantage.
