New seating in the JMA Wireless Dome could be ready for 2024 football season

Really makes you wonder that the seating thing is a MAYBE for 2 yrs from now.. The followup question from AXE should have been what is the main issues with getting it done.. Is it losing seats/Money to pay for it/ Worry about moving people around the building and not pissing off some/ Could it be done in stages/does it trigger ADA things thats slowing progress down/ETC

This is a bit frustrating. I thought I read last year that it would be done after this sports year. Change is change. If it's to be done, they have to bite the bullet and get it done to the best of their ability to please people knowing that not everyone will be pleased. I'll gladly move seats a few to the left or right or rows up and down to have a more comfortable experience.

I called the ticket office a few weeks ago and they told me then that the seating changes will take place in 2024. They need to have all the changes ready before they send out renewals. They need to know ahead of time who is renewing so they can slide people around. After renewals go out this spring for next years season, in early summer, they will ask fans if they plan to renew for 2024. They will then determine how they will need to reconfigure seating to keep people as close to where they are now. It’s probably going to be a major undertaking..

I still want to know what size the seats will be and how they are configured. 20 inches wide? 22 inches wide? Leg room? Slight tilt? Arm rests flip up? Cup holders?

I think there will be different sizes around the stadium depending where you sit. Wherever there are angle seating, the seats may be different widths.

I don’t think any final decisions have been made but I believe they were thinking of making the seats on the 100 and 200 level slightly wider than on the 300 level. Whatever widths they choose will be significantly wider than the space allocated per seat today.

Yeah i had heard the same but I have not heard with what they have actually decided on. Some speculation but nothing certain to my knowledge for what specs they settled on.

More details are due to be released next week as I understand it. Here is what I know. There was a chance to get this done for 2023. However to do so, reseating would have started at ground zero, fully on line based on donor rank. There was significant negative feedback with that approach where no one would be guaranteed anything and virtually everyone except the top tier donors would lose locations they have had for years. I applaud this decision and expect to see a much more personalized approach with a greater degree of individual attention. Something that couldn’t reasonably be executed in a short time frame.

Absolutely agree. There is much value and attachment with seat neighbors. We just finished our first season and would be greatly disappointed if we were forced to pick new seats. I can only imagine what it would be like for folks who had the same seats for 20 years etc.

Doesn't anybody read anymore...

"The seats will replace the Dome’s metal bleachers. Seating in the lower levels of the venue will be slightly wider than seats in the upper decks, Sala said."
Is there an article or thread besides the reference by the OP article? I don’t have access to that one. I tried. Happy to read. I remember Tomcat doing some research he shared about seats when this was just being socialized by Syracuse.

Anyone have an update on the Dome signage or improved wireless network? Assumed both would be installed by now.

They need to add two tubes to each seat. One for direct access to beverages and one directly to the restrooms. This will alleviate all the congestion in the hallways. It could be Pete’s final legacy to the facility. It could start a new trend for stadium construction.

Yeah. I wonder what the best way to do it is. There will be a ripple effect and the farther down the line you go, the bigger the change. I wonder if people will be given any say in how they move. Some may care more about staying in a lower row even if it means moving away from the center of the field whereas others may value staying toward the middle even if it means moving a few rows up or going from the lower level to the upper level.

PS. Just make sure they are well marked!
