Here’s a thread to discuss the state and, well, across the board improvement of our state’s football programs.

Between us, UB and Army the state is 10-2 with losses only to the Sooners and Dukies.


Great year so far, hope the success continues for each program. The Northeast may have a future! Feel free to discuss other NY programs as well.

I had no idea who Buffalo's coach was or where he came from (for those that didn't know like me, its Lance O. Leipold) who won 6 NCAA Div III Championships in 8 years at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater

UB looks real good. Syracuse and Buffalo both undefeated and playing for conference respect. Who would of thunk it.

Stony Brook 3-1 and Albany 2-2 as well.

I have to imagine he would like a B1G job being a midwest guy. Maybe Illinios if Louvey doesn't work out in college. I think he should be at UB for a year or 2 more. I think after UB streamline their sports and with the success of both the football and basketball, they would be a good AAC expansion candidate.

The other wins wouldn’t really move the dial, even for a bigger MAC program. But it doesn’t take a win against a competitive/competent program to know when a programs ran impressively.

NY State and stats: Speaking of waterbugs...UAlbany FCS Dev Holmes from Troy High 4 games 28 receptions 584 yds 2nd in fcs long 88 yds 4 tds. Wasn't he once a recruit last year? Only 5-9 and 160 lbs.

What does this mean for recruiting in the state and region? Does this have an effect? Is UB grabbing a lot of guys from the state along with W PA and E OH?

The only effect I could see from this is that people begin to pay more attention to talent in the area and local recruits are more sought after and respected by the services. I don’t think any of this moves the needle at the end of the day though. Just nice to see success all around.

Army hammered the Bulls. They also went to OT with Oklahoma, how good are they? Also, Joe Benedict has 303 yards in 3 games, 7.5YPC, at Brockport. He appears to be undermatched in D3 as a true freshman.

I think Benedict was a kid we could've taken a chance on.
