OL whoever gets hired is going to have a huge task in front of them. Not much returning experience. Need a guy that can reach coach the position.

DC, hopefully we can get a strong hand in here. Wonder if we can get a former HC in for a year or two, lot of those guys looking for work.

Amato would definitely fit that but I'd hope they could go a little younger.

Depends on who ends up on D staff ... They could have Chuck there for a few years to mentor a replacement?

If Dino doesn't bring his own DC with him, I'm kind of hoping that Daoust might get a shot. He's a good, well respected coach, and it would go a long way toward easing the transition with the current players. But I have to imagine it'll probably be Ward.

I have not seen where the Minny coach if he got picked up went. He was with Kill since '99 from what they said. New coach got rid of him

Q...will Dino's style of offense help mask an OL's inexperience, or does it depend on really solid, dominating, experienced OL play?

I'd love to see this. If we're worried about players or recruits not sticking I think promoting Daoust to DC would be huge. Plus, I think we have the right defensive style in place. I'll take the trade for what the new offense is going to be, but if we can have both styles I think we'd really be unique.

God it would nice to see Reagan at OC or even OL if he would take it to come home. Don't really have an issue with Amato. Dick Labeau is 78.

Typically, these offenses mask an OL's deficiencies somewhat. You need more of an experienced and more talented line with pro-styles. Don't get me wrong, run blocking is run blocking, but, zone schemes typically rely on combos and double teams to second level assignments. This makes it easier to win individual blocks when there's an initial combo, it gets the OL into better position to make their block imo.

Pass blocking is similar regardless, you just have to know your assignment. But if you're going to be spread a lot, you're going to look for more athleticism with your OL. The premise is to widen everything, splits included. This creates more ground to cover, you're going to want guys with good feet and lateral mobility.

Knowing that this has been done for a few days maybe the rumors of Amato and the potato interviweing had to do with coordinator jobs.

He did work with DeWayne Walker at UCLA for a few seasons. Maybe he wants to come back to college as a DC.

Yep, I'd also add that the spread formation makes it more difficult for a defense to hide their schemes which in theory means less surprises for the offensive line to adjust their blocking assignments to. Add in a tempo that makes it tricky for substitution on D and even just changing up the defensive playcalls and wears out a defense and my guess is what we'll do will be very Oline friendly so long as they're dedicated to proper S&C.

i hope its not ward since he was named interim coach at bg for there bowl game and i would think babers would have told them of staff guys in the mix since we cant have the staff waiting until bowl game finishes to join su

I'm guessing you weren't asking me, since Finwad replied.
