Next time someone you know...

Time to put your big boy pants on, fellas.:noidea:

Sounds like he told nobody that he was doing what he was doing.

How respectful of him.

He can't get away from my football teams fast enough. Good coach, great coach, whatever he is, he's an arrogant jacka##.

I was going to use Marrone'd next time I get $4 million, even if I don't work a second.

Ehhh, remember...football is a bu$ine$$. Why fault Marrone for playing it as such?

The business doesn't bother me nor impact me. But it does seem to bother the players in the business both past and present. Just like at SU. I don't think it is so much what he does, but more what he says prior.

I don't fault him for being ambitious at all.

But he seems to have arrogance before true justification. And that tends to not end well a lot.

He can coach and there is a market for that. He's about to find it in a bigger market as there is NO way he opts out without knowing there is a HC gig awaiting. And if he did...let me talk about arrogance again.

What do you expect players to say? College kids is different. Pros who have a contract/expiration date? Who cares?

Let's see if Aaron Williams finishes his career as a Bill...as if he chose them, BTW. Again, welcome to bu$ine$$!

Agreed. Can't fault a guy for doing what's best for him. He doesn't owe his life to the Bills organization. However, if he made it known that he was committed long term and other made decisions based on that, well maybe that's another story.

Lord knows you know business more than I, but in my world there are different types of "businessmen". Shrewd, savvy, cutthroat, are ones that come to mind. It's obvious by the reactions of people that he's not the savvy type. Two HC jobs and in both cases he pissed off people in and outside the programs. Others have changed jobs and not been such a lightening rod of anger.

I don't know what he had said to buffalo players just recently but by the reaction of the players and the comments of people in the organization, it must have been similar to what happened at SU where he denied all the rumors to the players. I think most of the players even found out from the media.

There's a way IMO, to answer a question and not have to give exact details with all honesty.

Anyways, happy New Years bud. We'll have to chat again sometime. I'll give you a call sometime soon.

Doug pulled a Bobby Petrino!

There's an artificial "loyalty" that exists in big-time sports. The head coach can talk all he wants about being family and having the team come first, but then it all vaporizes when either management or players or coaches show what really matters. Doug is no different than a thousand others who play it both ways. That's just life in an imperfect world.
Moral of the story: don't invest too much in football fandom, because it's just entertainment in the end.
