We’ve had a 16 year stretch of much suffering, and to be frank one of the earliest nutkick losses in that stretch came at the hands of some UNC kicker who kept kicking 50+ yard field goals at the Dome in 2002. There is an insatiable hunger for W’s here!

No. The entire program is reeling with failure.
We have a history of keeping failed football coaches too long, often 2 or 3 years too long. But most football boosters remain furious about the firing of Davis, especially when it was done, which meant we had a season long interim, which ruined recruiting for a full year.
Many of those football boosters have awakened to the fact that the same UNC people tho wanted Davis fired so that it ruined a season and another recruiting class also keep defending Fedora.
That awareness is breeding a new anger, all of it directed at Fedora. And that means that AD Bubba Cunningham is feeling the heat, which will come at him if he fails to take care of the Fedora problem.
I don't recall who kicked in 2002. But I do know that we won 3 games that year.

I was at that game. It was multiple 50+ yard field goals in the same game. Ugh.
Edit: just looked it up: Dan Orner with not one, not two, but three 50+ yard field goals in a 30-22 loss. Was 23-22 til late in the fourth. Darian Durant under center for the Heels.

That was the highlight of the year for UNC football.
And they kept Bunting as coach for 4 more years, including after the 2-win season of 2003.

Wouldn't this then be a choke job by us? We had a 10 point lead in the 4th.
On the road against the #3 team in the country, which was in the playoffs last year and won it all 2 years ago.

Sorry, but we can compete with Clemson. We've proven that. If you blow a 10 point lead in the 4th against a team you're competitive with, that's a choke. We need to start looking at Syracuse as they really are. A good, top 25, maybe even top 15???, football team.

“Blow” a 10 pt lead early in the 4th in Death Valley? Maybe if it were with a minute left. This lead was just lost. It happens in sports, especially against good teams in large stadiums packed with 80K screaming fans.
