Per Brent axe latest podcast (titled Syracuse - Georgetown), he says he expects a head coach to be named today or tomorrow and that it a Regy’s job to lose. Stated that there’s massive alum and financial support for him.

Spallina and Stanford’s coach (a Rochester native) also in the mix. Tumolo was reached out to but declined to interview

Not sure how much stock I’d put in Axe’s “inside info”. However, if your first paragraph is true, this program is in trouble.

If the AD is serious about winning some national championships, there is only one candidate that is glaringly obvious and makes the most sense. Hopefully Wildhack doesn’t fudge this up, because I would really like to watch this program win its first national championship, and SOON!

To say there is only one person for the job is asinine. You have been consistently outspoken in your dislike for Regy Thorpe. I appreciate that you have stuck to your guns for years on that stance, I don’t agree but you have never wavered. That said, there are a handful of candidates that I think would be great as the next head coach at Syracuse. I don’t know if any are involved but there is way more than one guy for the job. I would prepare to be disappointed because it’s highly unlikely that your guy gets this job.

Why would we listen to Alums, other than for their money, Have they won anything... unlike the men, they haven't? Stanfords coach is a headache to work for, she has a revolving door of assist coaches. I'd be fine with Regy but why did Gait get rid of him? Can he bring us back to the level of BC, UNC, NW?

Let regy go be a head coach for another program first. The fact that you actually think someone who has never been a head coach before should get the keys to a top 5 program is actually asinine! If the best Wildhack can do is Regy, then you’re probably right. I will be disappointed and won’t be watching.

I did not say that Regy Thorpe should be hired. I just said it’s dumb to think that Spallina is the only candidate that could win. I still would prefer that they hire a coach with experience but what I think is irrelevant. Give me Jen Adams, Tim McCormack, Katrina Dowd, Michelle Tumolo and I’d be good with the decision. I just don’t think the decision is going to be Spallina.

The administration is going to take input from alumni. They do for every hire they make and this is no different. The alumni won’t make the final choice but I’m sure they voiced their opinion just like they do whenever a football coach is hired.

Does the name Fran Brown ring a bell.

Yeah and in a sport like women’s lacrosse I’m sure most if not all NIL for it comes from alumni

Does this job pay a lot? Compared to other peer programs?
That is a a question that no one knows the answer to at this time. Unless you are a top earner at a private university, your salary is normally not revealed. If I had to make a guess, Syracuse plays slightly less that the top coaches public salaries. Those would be Jenny Levy and Kathy Reese, both with long tenured and multiple national championships. And Joe Spallina, his public record salary places him at the top of women’s college lacrosse. This is another reason I do not believe he will ultimately be the choice for Wildhack.

Neither was Syracuse women’s lacrosse in 2025
And SU women aren't in the top ten this year
They are two completely different circumstances. The point is,

Syracuse Women's Lacrosse is a perennial top 5 program with a great reputation (usually) and they receive a ton of exposure. They should be able to go out in the market and hire a successful, experienced HC candidate (if they want).

Syracuse football was none of those things. Wildhack had to take a chance on an unproven coach (and it worked out great!) Lacrosse should not have to take a chance in their hire.

Regy Thorpe’s resume is more impressive then Spallina’s in both the women’s and men’s game I encourage you to take the time to research it
Now you’ve gone too far. I like Regy and think he is an outstanding coach, but I think Spallinas head coaching record at the the D1 and D2 level along with his MLL championships and his team USA experience is pretty impressive. His four year run at Adelphi was unmatched with a 73-2 record and three straight national championships to end his run with the Panthers. He is an outstanding coach.

Spallina has been to 0. D1 fina fours Thorpe has been to multiple as a coach with multiple teams also multiple semi final appearances with Hamilton as a coach Minto cup as a coach silver medal as head coach of women’s sixes silver medal as head coach US men’s box lacrosse. Want to compare there playing achievements Regy won 2 NJCAA titles 1 D1 title 93 runner up 92 along with NLL titles tell me where Spallina has achieved more???????

Honestly I’d be happy with either. While Spallina is more proven and it would be nice to potentially get his daughter and her friend back, he’s a Long Island guy through and through. I don’t think he would stay much past his kids graduating but could be wrong

He’s a fine coach but definitely is very involved in the PLL I don’t think he could do both at a program like Syracuse he can ask his son about the demand difference. Syracuse Women’s lacrosse deserves a coach with 100 percent focus on its program.

Regy Thorpe knows talent he pulled one of Florida’s best players out of the D3 portal last season Ask Joel White Cody Jamieson what they thought of Regy Thorpe as a coach. Ask Alyssa Murray Cometti or Michelle Tumulo I guarantee they all will say how much they loved him
all in on Regy. I randomly spoke with someone connected to the UF program (current family). Regy is beloved by the team there. He would be a very popular hire for recruiting purposes and would be a big loss for Florida (per these folks). They had me jazzed that he would be the guy. They all think he will be a great D1 HC.
