Jeff Hoklinski? Not sure of spelling but he is the WR coach of Michigan and is considered a top recruiter. Guy makes about 200k a year and is a Western Michigan grad. You have to figure he will be available

Hire a special teams coach instead. Give WR to Acosta.

If GM leaves and if we decide to replace him with a WR coach (keeping Tim Lester as the OC), I think it makes great sense to get another WR coach with strong ties to South Florida.

We have the Midwest covered pretty well already. This guy might be a fine WR coach but losing GM would leave a major void recruiting that needs to be addressed.

How about a HS HC coach from a major south Florida program?

That could work, I guess, but it didn't work out too well the last time it was tried. Maybe if he's single...

I think we have some flexibility with our current assistants. We could have Acosta take wr's, or move some guys around. I'd think about Casullo from STA as special teams coordinator. Resolves 2 issues, and won't have to pay him a ton. Whoever it is has to be an ace recruiter.

How do you see him staying? Do you see him taking a pay cut? I don't see any possibly way he is here next year.

who says he would be forced to take a pay cut they could pay him what he is making now as wr coach and recruiting guy

It would be a pleasant surprise to see Syracuse cough up money for the football staff, but when have we ever shown we will do that? If Lester stay as OC he will be in store for a raise. There is no way you can have your WR coach being paid more then your OC. Plus you have the fact that McDonald basically said he wouldn't have came here if he wasn't OC. Someone will pay him 500k to come be their WR coach and bring some South Florida kids in.

lester staying as OC I think is only chance he stays as they have a good relationship. id think lester and McDonald make in same ballpark (within 100-200k) currently with lester being recruiting coordinator

But wasn't McDonald getting 500k at Arkansas? That type of money will be on the table again. I just don't see him eating that type of cash to stay at Syracuse to be a WR coach. Even if it was 350-400k, it would be too much to turn down. Being OC you can justify the pay cut since it could make you more down the line. I don't know maybe he does, but with the money he could make elsewhere, what he has said about not coming here, and his relationship with Shafer possibly being damaged I just don't see it.

I don't want McDonald to leave, despite the TMZ style drama it at least made the week or two interesting. I like McDonald being down on the sideline too, think it's a positive for our offense and future recruits.

what he said about not coming here unless was OC is no big deal as you don't leave an sec job for a lateral move to a lesser paying school. Even though he shouldn't have said it.

George was not making 500k any place and will not be paid that kind of money going forward. He is a 300k guy at most and i believe he could be in line for 250 at cuse. I still think it will be very hard to keep him

GM has our receivers blocking down field, running routes correctly, is a motivator on the sidelines and is a very good to great recruiter. Why don't we want him to stay?

McDonald might stay if he's paid the same. I think he leaves but we'll see.

I think there are a couple of coaches who's jobs might be on the line.

I don't understand the love affair with hiring a 'special teams coach'. That is normally a secondary job. You hire a position coach first and foremost. I haven't seen to many issues with st anyways. Punting is great, field goal has become pretty darn good. Kickoffs are fine. Coverage teams are fine. Punt return and kick off return is personnel.

who do you think other than mcdonald are most likely to be gone?

You're right it was $275k at Arkansas. I still think that number is impossible to match if he would be offered something similar again.

If we decide against GMC/Lester, TCU has two co-OCs. Go make one of them an offer they can't refuse. (This won't happen, but a man can dream.)
