In the short term it might be difficult, and expensive to buy out of scheduled games in the next few years. Looking at the current ACC teams this is the number of seasons that they have already scheduled and announced four OOC games between 2024 and 2036:

Boston College - 2 - 2025, 2028
Clemson - 2 - 2024, 2025 and 2026
Duke - 0
FSU - 1 - 2024
Georgia Tech - 2 - 2024, 2025
Louisville - 5 - 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, 2030
Miami - 2 - 2024, 2026
NC State - 3 - 2025, 2026, 2028
UNC - 4 - 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027
Pitt - 1 - 2024
Syracuse - 4 - 2024, 2025,  2026, 2027
Virginia - 1 - 2024
VaTech - 6 - 2024, 2025, 2027, 2028, 2029, 2030
Wake Forest - 1 - 2024

Two of the P4 already p;ay a nine game conference schedule with the ACC and SEC still at eight I believe. If SEC were to go to nine I can see the ACC doing the same with some of the rivalry games skipping years or being discontinued altogether.

Maybe we play an eight game schedule through 2027 then go to 9? That would suspend natural rivals and ensure every one plays every team once home and away? Then go to the 2+7+7?
