I was responding to another post but next thing I knew I typed out something longer than I've probably every typed on this site and figured I'd start my own topic. I don't think I was too negative but wasn't blindly optimistic. This is all from where we stand now so there are some obvious guesses "like Colemans health"
Coleman: Who the heck knows, say he plays 20 minutes a game, how good is he going to be? He wasn't lighting it up when he was playing before, and that was in game shape with a healthier knee. Scary. He was awful in the zone his first two years, will he have gotten better in it? If he plays 20 I can see him averaging 8/6 though.
Roberson: Beast on the boards some games, non existent the next. Offense outside of a putback or dunk is not good. I think he can be a consistent force on the glass but that jumper was sooooo off I'm not sure if next year is the year we see what he can do. I think he will be an excellent senior. I can see him playing 30 minutes a game, 10/10 from him should happen.
G: I think we're going to try and make him the man on offense, we always seem to have one. I see him having a year like CJ did his last year here, or Joseph had. I'm not going to say those two guys regressed their last year here, but they weren't as efficient as they were their jr. years. Joseph was inconsistent and CJ's 3pt % went down tremendously. I think he is going to get a lot more focus than he did this year by the defense. 14/5/4 (pretty much same numbers as last year, lower percentages)
Cooney: As a sophomore, I actually didn't have a problem with his game. He was white hot and pretty much took wide open threes and that was it. They weren't falling but he wasn't taking very man bad shots. This year while he was moving with the ball more and driving I think he just took far far far far too many awful shots. He needs to cut those out, I can't imagine he shot better than 5% on the shots he took where I was watching and was like "what the hell was that" before it missed. Some games he took like 5 of those shots. He cuts those down and they actually work the ball around and maybe find something better I think we'll be in better shape. I hope with G emerging last year that some pressure to shoot those awful shots goes down. I think he comes back solid and has his best shooting year. I really think he is capable of hitting 40% from three over the course of the year, the problem is I don't think he'll ever calm down enough on the bad shots to get there. I can see high 30s percentage. 14 ppg seems reasonable.
Joseph: While he wasn't Ennis, wasn't MCW, wasn't Scoop, he was still a freshman. I literally felt bad for him this year, not because of the way he played but for the crap he got around here and in the dome from fans. He's not even a quarter bad as everybody made him out to be. He showed enough potential for me to be happy he is our point guard next year. I think he will do well next season, I'm not calling for all ACC, but I think he will be servicable. I hope one day somebody here will explain to me why BJ Johnson and Ron Patterson were loved so much and this kid was treated like he spit in your moms face. The treatment he received was just uncalled for. His A/TO ratio was the same as G's, not saying that's a great benchmark but he was a freshman. I don't think 9 pts 5 asst playing about 30 minutes is out of the question.
Richardson: From the reports I'm hearing his defense is lazy and suspect. I'll judge when I see him but for now I can see him playing 10-15 minutes a game with the opportunity to boost that up to 20 depending on how Joseph plays. If Joseph plays poorly then I'm sure we can see Richardson get to 20 and G playing some time at the 1 on offense. Even with poor defense Richardson is going to get time but with Cooney and G being two guys that are going to take up a lot of minutes I don't see Richardson getting a ton. Even with cut back minutes I can see him averaging 8ppg
Lydon: I'd be shocked if he played more than 5-8 minutes a game. Lot of guys ahead of him.
Diange: If Coleman gets 20 minutes a game and Roberson gets 34 that means there are 26 minutes to be had for Diange. I'm sure he'll get at least 15 of them with Chinoso and Lydon fighting for the scraps.
Howard: Loaded back court, don't see him playing much at all, be shocked if he played more than 5 a game. Doubt he scores at all outside of some putbacks or open dunks, maybe 2-3 points a game, 4-5 boards.
Chin: I just don't see anything there, haven't since he got here, I don't see him just "getting it". He's just too far away, hopefully we can get something his senior year, but I'm not optimistic. But, JB likes his older players, if Diange struggles he could possibly see 10 a game, if that happens, I'm very nervous about what our record is going to be. 2ppg, 2rpg
