Offense a concern With Roberson, Coleman, Chuwku all below average there on O

The only average to above average offensive players are Moyer unproven and playing behind several

Howard which is a stretch

battle who I think huge upside

and Lydon stud

But I think Tyler Lydon might be forced to play small forward though I don't think that's his most effective position

But can we go over any other options for the back court I mean basically

If no Mali and no Mullins or Spike? and I don't believe there's a snowballs chance in hell that Diallo reclassifies and signs with us early

is there anybody else ??
this would be dire straits!

Wish we had Huerter Maryland's guard

We are in big trouble if Malachi doesn't come back. I really don't know who else we could get at that point.

Howard's going to be a really good facilitator, I think. Gbinije was not a PG, Howard is (even if he technically wasn't considered one in high school). I also think, based on his form and confidence when not yelled at, he'll develop a jumpshot that defenses have to at least respect, so I'm looking forward to seeing him play. I'd obviously much rather the phenom that is Tyus Battle play PG with Mal next to him, but there are much worse scenarios than Frank getting the start.

Battle at SG is plenty. No elaboration needed here; kid's going to score in bunches.

Lydon at SF would probably be the leading scorer. SF is a better fit for him, in my opinion, and he's a match-up nightmare on both ends of the court. He'll see big minutes, and a rotation of Moyer coming in for Roberson while Lydon slides down to PF could work wonderfully.

Roberson is Roberson. He'll get 10ppg and like 8 boards. Can't complain much about that.

Center is the most intriguing part. Will Coleman emerge as the offensive big man we all thought he'd be after finally getting a full offseason to work on basketball? Can Chukwu get us 6-8 points on 70% shooting because they're all dunks? idk, but we get two guys splitting minutes, so the odds of one of them finding a way to get it done in a particular game can't be bad. You can't teach height, and Chukwu's assumed dominance on the defensive end might make a lack of offensive production essentially irrelevant. Being 7'2" with 2-3 guards capable of getting in the lane with relative ease could make a back-to-the-basket game irrelevant, too; just stand there with your hands ready and wait for a 'little guy' to get you a dunk.

I don't have high expectations for Moyer. That's not to say I don't think he is/will be good, I just don't think we'll have to count on him a whole lot and freshman don't often come in and make a big impact like this past year's freshman did. I'm definitely optimistic that he'll be a contributor but tempering my expectations.

The biggest impact to Mal leaving is not on the production of the starting unit, it's on the nonexistent bench. If Mal goes, we have to get a grad transfer, even if it's little Spike Albrecht; otherwise, we're either playing a walkon or a SF/PF at SG for stretches.

I will be a bit disappointed if Roberson only snags 8 rebounds.

The more playing time Tyus Battle gets by the end of the season he will be unstoppable. I think Battle is going to be a combination Dion Waiters + Kemba Walker. He's going to be a lightning bolt to the basket but break people's ankles with his jump shot. I haven't been this excited to see a freshmen play since Pearl. Okay, maybe that's too much but Pearl's on my mind.

I wouldn't fret over whether Lydon is better at small forward or power forward. On defense, those two positions have the exact same responsibilities in the zone. On offense, Lydon will play in a way that maximizes his strengths. That is, he'll float out to the three and shoot, and roll to the hole as well.

The only difference between the 3 and the 4 is that it might affect who covers Lydon. If he's in there with Roberson, I would expect the other team's smaller forward to be guarding Lydon, which is fine. It makes the outsider shot easier to get off and also allows for post-ups. If he's playing power forward, he'll get the bigger (but likely less agile) defender. That's fine too.

Can you imagine if Lydon had Malachi's step-back move as part of his game. That would be amazing to watch!

The difference between Jr. year Rak and Sr. year Rak was astounding. Same with Silent G. I expect similar improvement from both DC2 and Robi.
