Not sure this has been started yet, but now that Lydon & Battle have announced there are really very few unknowns with returning players for next year (unless Howard bolts, but that appears unlikely now based on comments made by Boeheim). Only unsettled situation is newcomers.

So here's what we know:

Backcourt Returners:
Howard (Jr.)
Battle (So.)

Backcourt Commitments:
Washington (Fr.)

Frontcourt Returners:
Chukwu (Jr.)
Thompson (So.)
Moyer (RFr.)

Frontcourt Incoming Signees:
Brissett (Fr.)
Sidibe (Fr.)

So as of now, we have three (3) left to give for the 2017-18 season to get back to 11. Then back to 12 for '18-19 before returning to the full allotment in '19-20.

If we could somehow land Jordan Tucker, I think he'd immediately be the odds-on favorite to win a starting forward spot opposite either Brissett or Moyer, with Thompson remaining at center. Chukwu & Sidibe will play 5 and backup that position.

If Howard/Battle backcourt remains intact and both can improve, that immediately makes our perimeter defense better without Gillon. And if we can somehow swing the Ayala recruitment, then we can have three guys who can play either of the two guard spots in a pinch and relegate Washington to a fourth guard role and allow him to develop at a normal pace.

The third scholarship is a wild card - can we convince Hameir Wright to come, or is Tucker/Wright an either/or at this point? Do we hold out for a fifth-year guard who can take the reigns at PG if Howard remains an enigma? Do we look for a PF-type who can help us on the boards since we are losing our best rebounder in Lydon?

A lot to be decided between now and September.

sr. tim kempton jr PF lehigh.
6' 10" 2x patriot league mvp.

That would be nice, but he was a senior this past year with no eligibility remaining.

A SF who can shoot is by far the biggest need.

There is zero point in speculating now.
As we saw last year, there are likely several additional pieces to be added (and possibly some to be removed), before we can even remotely guess at who plays where.

Ummm... it's the offseason. Why can't we speculate now? Isn't that what a message board is for?

You can speculate all you want. Free country and all.
It's just completely pointless.
Knock yourselves out.

Id rather wait until we actually know who all the pieces are, before bothering to speculate where they might go.

Last year, we didn't have TT or AWIII until the very last minute - so any predictions and speculations about the lineup, were completely worthless prior to that.

You must be a bundle of fun at parties.

it's early to project. but imo tyler lydon leaving still lands us in the bottom half of the conference.

It's precarious for sure. It's very possible that we will be projected to finish in a place (league wise) where no SU fan has gone before. ;)

Does anyone have any clarification on Frank's status at SU? Is he going to be sticking around or is it a possibility of him transferring? Seemed like he got out of the dog house in the last couple of games this season.

We need a major infusion of talent this offseason, we need to get lucky and land a Tucker, and get two grad transfers.

The upside to this...there are spots available to get big minutes at Syracuse.
That is bound to interest some available talent.

That's a good point, if there was a recruit out there who crossed is off his board because of Lydon, we might be back in the mix now.
