Just wondering and looking for opinions as to what you think will be the "national" exposure given the current SU situation? By that I mean "Will the major networks reduce our exposure?" I'm strictly referring to ESPN, ESPNU, ESPN2 and CBS. I don't get ESPN3 and am usually blacked out on games being shown on the various regional sports channels (I get about 20-30 of those channels). Almost all of the non conference games I needed to find a streaming source and the same was true for about 5 or 6 conference games.

I was disappointed this year and last that I did not get as many games as previous years. Initially I blamed this on the new ACC Conference. Don't know if that was really the case.

Any thoughts?

Syracuse is one of the few powerhouse brands in the country. people pay attention to SU no matter the circumstances and networks know this.

I would also imagine that the networks would love to show Hop's 1st game as a HC. Big question will be if the ACC will schedule that in the Dome or not? Personally I could see the ACC sending Wake or GT to Cuse to let Hop get the standing o as he's announced.

I don't think there will be any change. We will be a Top 15 level team next year so may even get some more primetime slots than this year. Syracuse is a TV draw, but maybe even more now that we have cemented ourselves as the bad boys of college basketball. We're like a combo The U, Penn State, and 1990's UNLV per the NCAA and media - the most rogue and renegade program of possibly all time with the nastiest, dirtiest coach to ever prowl the sidelines. Who wouldn't tune in for that? Everyone loves a villain.

Nike should capitalize on this and give us all black uniforms, or black and gray digital camo uniforms with orange numbers.

If anything, I could see MORE exposure. We're officially a bad guy now and people love nothing more than to see the bad guy defeated. They want to see how we react, especially during Hop's first few games and the games JB returns.

If the ACC were smart, they'd rearrange the schedule for us to play Duke, Louisville, UNC and Virginia twice. Or at least make sure we aren't on the ACC Network 3-4 times in conference again.

Syracuse has always been the most badass team around. Jimmy knows this and the fans know this. NCAA has been put on notice

Anyone want to surmise who SU will play when JB returns from suspension? It reads, made for tv.

And in every broadcast, the penalties and sanctions will be brought up. Nothing like beating that proverbial dead horse...

You're right. Instead of using our energy to fight against the image, it would seem more beneficial to use it to our advantage. I think SU could set itself apart from other teams and build it's brand some because of this. That kind of image keeps you getting talked about, and automatically captures the interest of a certain segment of the market, including recruits who are free thinkers. I think a lot of merchandise could be sold too, especially if they announced it as a 1 season type of deal. But uniform aside, SU hoops could benefit as being seen as the Maximus character in Gladiator, who stood up to an empire(the NCAA).
