This is getting very interesting.
Do the Bucs trade the first choice or sell tickets with Winston?
Does Mariotta some how wind up with Chip Kelly?
What do the Titans do?
What do the Jets do?
What do the Bears do?

After last night, Winston will go first. There were already concerns about Mariota, and Danny Kannell was on Mike and Mike this morning saying that he's already hearing that the game last night hurt his stock.

I thought Winston would go first regardless, but last night will certainly hurt Mariota's stock a bit. Winston will go to Tampa. They desperately want a QB.

My guess is Mariota falls to the Jets at 6 or someone trades up ahead of them to get him.

tampa takes leonard williams DT usc
tennessee jameis winston
jets amari cooper but 2nd round brett hundley
bears shane ray missouri or vic beasley
as for marcus mariota i say he stays in school to work on his skills in being a better pocket passer..the ? now is cardele jones

I keep thinking the Bucs need a lot of of players and will trade their spot.

Nah, they have talent pretty much everywhere. They really just need a QB, guards, and an edge rusher and they have a ton of cap space to address those needs. The rumor all year has been that if the Bucs didn't land the top pick, they were going to trade up for it to get their franchise QB. I suspect it will be Jameis because I think he'll solidify himself as the #1 QB when it's all said and done and he's also a gigantic deal in the Tampa area and they need to sell tickets desperately.

Depends... Is their spot worth something this year is there the Absolute cant miss guy sitting in that #1 overall slot?

I don't think either QB is worthy of a high draft pick, reminds me of the EJ/Geno draft, but Winston is who I would take as the first QB. Mariota had questions about being a system guy before last night and last night did not help his cause at all.

If Jameis didn't get in trouble off the field, he'd be considered the best QB prospect since Luck (which, granted isn't a very long time, but the point is that he's regarded as a very special football talent, unlike EJ/Geno).

I don't think there is a player out there who is going to get them multiple 1st rd picks. I think they stay and pick Winston and hope Lovie can keep him straight off the field. He's a very good QB.

I can't see why an NFL GM would pick Mariotta unless they want to add "drafting a first round bust" to their NFL list of achievements. He's a great college system QB but he's not an NFL QB.

Not a fan of Winston either. He's got all the tools but he doesn't have his head screwed on straight and is a big risk to become Jamarcus Russel 2.0.

He reminds me more of Ben Roethlisberger personally. He's a far smarter football player than JaMarcus ever was.

Prediction: Mariota falls into the late first/early second round.

football is the dumbest sport ever.

23-36, 333 yards + 39 on the ground 2 TD before the worthless last play with a bunch of drops by backups overwhelmed by the moment in the national championship

if that makes your stock drop....

if he ends up where the bills could've picked i'll lose my mind

It's not about the numbers, but how they're accumulated. Personally, I thought he made a fair share of NFL throws, but he also missed badly on some easy ones and scouts seem to disagree and say that he was once again rarely asked to make any NFL style throws last night.

His numbers are incredible for the season, but it will be pretty much impossible to replicate his offensive system in the NFL. Chip has used some of the same philosophies, but he's had to make drastic changes to the system to get it to work in the NFL. It's just a completely different sport from NCAA.

My biggest concern with him is his losing his focus. It's undeniable that he wasn't as effective this year as he was last year.

Easy...Winston. He has the physical tools and is a gamer. The off the field stuff is SOOOOOOO overblown. The cafeteria thing and the crab thing were stupid college things that he needs to realize he can't be a part of because he is famous. The other case has dragged on so long and been come back to life several times that I think some people are treating it as multiple incidents. It was a one time he said/she said. Winston didn't make the multitude of mistakes that the police and prosecutor and FSU made in handling it but I think he is bearing the blame for those mistakes on his reputation. It's back again and I heard a commentator say "Jameis Winston can't seem to stay out of trouble..." It's over and done with 2 years ago. His team mates love him, his coaches love him and would love to have him back. Bottom line is Winston can make throws that Mariotta (and a few NFL QB's...like Andy Dalton etc.) can't make. Tampa is not that far away. Granted they had a terrible year but there is enough talent on that team that Tony Dungy picked them for the Super Bowl before the season (with the full knowledge that either Josh McCown or Mike Glennon would be their QB).

it seems nuts to expect someone to not miss some throws

Yeah, but I think he was actually more impressive as a prospect this year. The year before, he had an incredible offensive line, strong running game, and incredible receivers. This year, they were pretty much below average across the board, so it was really all on Jameis to just survive from game to game. Instead of just being able to throw up jump balls to Benjamin every game, he had to anticipate throws, throw his receivers open, etc. And instead of having all day to sit in the pocket and pick defenses apart, he had to quickly get through his reads, evade pressure in the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield, and make plays. He was also injured pretty much the entire season this year whereas he was fully healthy the year before.
