The NFL Network was having a battle with Comcast to get the NFLN on its basic cable tier.
Arlen Specter was a Senator from PA but he was very close to Comcast president Ed Snyder.
Snyder was battling the NFL so Specter used his power and Spygate coverup to put pressure on the NFL.

The media were shown parts of the Spygate videos.

What the Patriots did was video the signals and then after the game would lineup the signals with actual calls and tried to get intel for the future.

It was a clear violation of the rules after the NFL said don’t record signals from the sidelines. They didn’t film a walkthrough or practices that allegation was proven false and the guy who wrote it is a Boston Sportstwriter John Tomase and he was wrong and he will tell you he was wrong and he hates the Patriots. He wanted it to be true and ran the story with a single source Matt Walsh who burned him. The Boston Herald ran a n A1 apology because they were wrong in the story.

Spygate was an actual violation but the truth of what it was about isn’t understood or people don’t care.
