Why would PSt pay the legal fees?
The thing that I agree with most is the Penn St. Holier than thou attitude. As an Ohioan/Ohio St. Fan, it was painful to see Ohio State and Jim Tressel (rightfully) eviscerated in the national media, while other schools looked on and laughed. Penn State would never do anything dishonest like that, Joe Paterno wouldn't ever stoop to that level. It turns out that Tressel was simply guilty of mundane things, like covering up improper benefits. He broke some arbitrary NCAA rules, but at the end of the day, I still believe in Tressel. Penn State was covering up something so much worse, while acting like they were above it all.
Wasnt' Tressel caught for infractions at every single stop along his coaching path. Never understood why everyone kept acting like it was shocking news that he was cheating at Ohio State too.

someone with access needs to post that over on the deniers board at PSUNot sure if posted, but here it is: The Shame.
I have lost complete faith in the NCAA. It is now open season. I hope we start cheating too. How in the hell was Newton allowed to play in the SEC CG and beyond? And what about the rigged casino games for their athletes? What happened with Oregon? Has that gone away? How in the hell has nothing happened yet to Miami, who the NCAA has been investigating for a year and a half? Ohio St got a slap on the wrist and they are a repeat offender. Then UConn basketball gets nothing for cheating their way to an NCAA title. And need I mention Calipari? Now they won't lift a finger to PSU.
I say commit as many recruiting violations as possible. The NCAA has no power. Even if they do attempt to bring sanctions against SU, we can just go to the courts and point to the above and we will get off. The NCAA can't pick and choose who they punish and what the punishment will be. The total lack of enforcement and fair punishment would make a judge throw out our violations. No matter what we commit there is no way it will be as bad as what has happened at many other schools who got NOTHING as a punishment.
