Been chewing on the notion that these players, for all intents and purposes, are professionals now. They have opened up a new income source in the form of NILs. With the pay to play, professional side of college athletics it has me re-thinking the criticism (or the hold back of such) for college athletes. I've always taken the notion that these kids are kids and not pros. My criticism tries to be mindful of that. I'm sure i've failed in my time posting here but it is in the back of my mind especially when we sometimes see their parents posting on here. It feels raw sometimes.

Anyway, if they are getting paid why would we bite our tongue on legit criticism of their play now? What difference is Devito if he gets an NIL deal than Carmelo year 2 in the NBA? They are being judged by corporate america now just like a 2003 Lebron or any other teen who decides to embark on a professional career.

College is a bit more complicated b/c not everyone is getting that bite at the apple...

I think we're a year or two away from this being fully fleshed out. I doubt I'll ever be too critical of players; but I'll be much less quick to judge those who are.

This is where I land too. I think there is a consequence to getting paid and for fans paying to see you. Their voices matter and their criticism as well.

Interesting how it all plays out for sure.

You still have to find someone that wants to pay a kid for their NIL.

They aren’t getting cuts of the enormous TV deals or any of the gate. You think DJ Uiagalelei will have his NIL deals reupped next year after how bad he’s been?

How about Dr Pepper not running the the ADs with the Clemson QB since he started 3-2…

That's a risk the advertisers will have to take.

Yeah. College kids who are well known are perfect for advertisers to reach the YouTube/Instagram demographic that doesn’t consume media through traditional outlets. This stuff makes sense for all parties. I’m looking forward to every school being BYU and having older seniors since it makes less sense to leave for the pros now. SU will be fine.
