NIL Donation Link

Hasn’t been an NIL collective for basketball since Orange United shut down short of doing an individual deal with a player. IMHO that was part of the problem. Orange United ended up raising nearly $3MM for men’s basketball last year and that channel was not replaced. Frankly there are not a lot of commercial options in the market. Blueprint Sports was the only one at the time OUC shut down and their terms were deemed to be unacceptable by Syracuse and many other SANIL clients. SU Football NIL covered that sport and was started by a small group of supporters. Unfortunately basketball did not have a similar group. Sounds like something is finally in motion and should be announced soon.

Oh, am well aware Orange United went away. They billed my bball annual donation CC on auto-renewal 2 weeks before they shuttered and after they confirmed with me that my auto-renewal was canceled... so yeah, I have very little faith Cuse got that donation and fear it went into the SANIL cash-grab golden parachutes fund for their execs.

Anyways... that was end of October/Early November... seems like enough time to get an alternative NIL plan together for basketball is all I am saying - especially with a new HC hire announcing on Annual Giving Day. Real squandered oppo IMO and yeah, no surprise NIL is down this year.

...and yes, I will wait for whatever bball-specific NIL collective is coming.

Cuse does have the ability to take recurring gifts/monthly payments: Athletics when utilizing this link, you would just need to click "scheduled payments". Then can choose the fund as you scroll to the bottom.

Oh ye of little faith. There was a detailed true up and every dime that was to go to SU Athletics was accounted for. Both sides signed off and had the finances independently reviewed. OUC actually fronted some payments for football against anticipated future donations so true up was necessary.
Absolutely agree that there should have Bern a more timely replacement. Unfortunately the Department could not do it on their own but they should have been more aggressive seeking a partner.

Yeah - I hope Cuse got the money and the true-up was comprehensive... Where did the money go in the true-up? Since it's NIL, it has to go into another NIL collective fund, no? I heard rumblings of it going to the Champion Cuse Athletics Fund, but that's not NIL, so not sure how they square that legally - depositing NIL funds into a university athletics account/fund.

I canceled my autorenewal with OUC late last spring after the end of the prior season and then last Fall - bam, saw the renewal on my credit card statement the same week OCU/SANIL went belly-up. Looked fishy as hell...

It did not and could not go to an NIL Fund. I think it most likely went into the Athletics Competitive Excellence Fund that feeds revenue sharing with athletes. I doubt very much that OUC donations earmarked for specific sports absolutely went to those sports though.

Maybe a dumb question. If I buy let's say a syracuse hoodie. Does any of that money go to nil?

Yeah, maybe that was the fund that I read where the donations may have gone... That said, I don't know how they can just take a balance of NIL donations from OUC/SANIL and dump them in a Non-NIL athletics fund... That doesn't sound legal.

Maybe SU Football NIL got the lionshare? Maybe some of it is in a holding account in wait for the new SU Basketball Collective that is coming??

There apparently is no way to donate to men's basketball NIL funding (above and beyond the University revenue sharing). No wonder we have a NIL problem. Hopefully Blair sets this up ASAP. There is a NIL collective for football but not hoops. Good grief.
Donations to the Coach's Fund cannot be used for paying players.

I'm pretty sure that I saw in multiple threads that it is imminent.
