You mean the clips of the refs not calling a travel with 3 mins left in a blowout TV game on that they were trying to get over to get to the 2nd game?

That one, you mean?

Are you defending the non call, because of the situation? I think all that anyone can ask and want is for the officials to call the game according to the rules without bias or consideration of circumstance. The rules are the rules. A foul is a foul and a travel is a travel.

Nope I'm not. I'm suggesting pointing to that clip as an example of the NBA vs the college game is really goofy.

Don't worry the college officials would have missed that too.

I call bullsh!t on that. The fact remains all the crap that happened in those videos was NBA. Period. And it's precisely why I don't watch NBA. It's a BS league, and it has been for a very long time. And for all the guys who claim the NBA today is the best it's ever been, that's only a measure of what shat it was for so long.

Unfortunately college feels that way for me. I will always love college basketball but the officiating drives me nuts. I don't watch enough NBA to have an opinion on the subject.

You don't watch the NBA but you know it's no good? I've never watched "Citizen Kane" because it's a BS, over-rated movie, I know it's no good.

The page I saw had multiple clips of violations that were not called. Travels where a players stutter steps around in one spot trying to figure out what to do.

They like lower-quality basketball, I guess. They're probably bonkers for CYO games.

Yeah, "lower-quality basketball" where the traveling rule is actually enforced by the refs, LOL! Simply watching the NBA - most assuredly, some of the world's finest athletes - doesn't necessarily mean one knows more about the game. I like to watch HS and college ball, in part because kids make mistakes and as a coach and ref, I learn more from watching that.

The NBA is not so much about basketball as it is about making money with a basketball. Fans won't buy tickets to watch refs call traveling over and over (because the players do that), and they won't buy jackets & jerseys or watch on TV. So, they almost never make the call. A friend who I ref with went to an NBA officials identification/advancement camp and they were told very clearly what can be called and not called. In the briefing on the first day they were told that the NBA is in the entertainment business, and "if you don't understand what that means, you should just go home right now." In those words exactly.

I remember being greatly dismayed when Michael Jordan was allowed to push off against Byron Russell, scoring the winning basket in the '98 finals. But I understood why: the magic of Michael and Chicago is greater than the magic of John and Karl in Utah, and the entire NBA knows it and understands it that way. Why? Because it translates into a greater pie, from which they're all cut a piece.

But, "different strokes for different folks." You prefer the NBA, fine, keep watching. Don't even give a thought to how much you're being manipulated. :)

Look! Cowtown dropped a giant pile of pooh!

NFL players play for money. It's considered entertainment. It's not fixed - but Manning and Brady get calls sometimes. Wake up, man. NCAA stars get special treatment and calls too.

I've been around long enough to know sizzle from steak, and I'm comfortable with my basketball worldview. :)

You have no idea how hilarious this is.

Your NBA manipulations are conspiracy theories.

College Sports are literally manipulated by the majority of schools in the p5 conferences...like...a fact. From buying games vs crummy schools to manipulating scheduling to the shady world of recruiting.

If the NBA was as manipulated as you think, the Knicks and Lakers wouldn't be terrible right now. In fact, the NBA 'ed the Lakers out of Chris Paul.

Ok...
I'll give you that if you accept the general view of college basketball among fans is the tape of the Nova vs Syracuse game this year where about 15 travels occured uncalled and the whole game was a slapfest/push-fight

Hey - that's cool. You're the one that has to live in it ;).

Kaminsky took a Michael Jordan-like 2.5 steps in the second half on one of his 'great plays'.

The NBA is exactly like CBB, except their is a salary cap installed to keep the system fair and the players are roughly 5x as skilled and athletic. Ra-ra about college all you want - but the NBA is a far superior watch.
