Every genius has to begin somewhere. DC has qualities that would be valuable: 1) Name. He was a #1 NBA draft pick. That, alone, is going to hold a significant amount of weight with a recruit and subsequently with a player who then has to listen to him. Not sure who was respecting Fine... 2) Personality. Remains to be seen if it translates to the patience you need with these kids, but we've already seen how he relates to them. 3)Actual, demonstrated skill. DC played the PF position (and occasional C) exactly the way i would love to see it played henceforth. In my mind, he is the prototype. 4) He was versatile. A power player. A finesse player. He blocked shots and rebounded. He could dribble, and drive. Pull up from three or slam it. A complete package. Being able to share all of those skills... mmmmph. Herman Harried? He may be a great coach now, but during his playing days, we sorta mocked him a bit.
