My biggest issue with Doug is the fact that he comes across as distant with his players and staff. I have no idea what this is about but i cant think of another college coach who seems so detached from his team.

We are on the road stinking up the joint and still have a chance to win yet we see zero emotion from our leader. None, Zip, Empty.

We screw up twice in the red zone and he just stands there arm folded chewing with a look on his face that is someplace other than in the moment. Not really a deer in the headlight kind of look more that of someone trying to remember what they went to the store for. Is he in everyones face? No. Does he head over to his OL and try to fire them up? No. Does he grab Hack by the scruff of his youthful neck? No. How about sitting down with your QB who does look like a deer caught in headlights? No.

Simply put the man lacks the ability to communicate with his team in game situations or worse he thinks that this is the way you lead young men. Dont get me wrong i dont want some guy like Kelly who screams to the point of a stroke. Or maybe on second thought it would be nice to be 4-0 against that kind of comp.. Oh well back to Doug. Coach wake up, communicate, lead, and most of all motivate and inspire. That is what your beloved Mac did. He coached with fire and his players played with fire. Get your head in the game Doug and lead. Find some passion some fire look in the mirror and realize that at the end of the day it starts at the top.

Difference is...Saban can coach. No need to yell and scream when your team is up 52-0

That's not what the post was about and my point exactly, if you can coach it doesn't matter what the fans see on the sideline, it's about being prepared and executing.

i agree with you but Saban is a poor comparison. Ive seen him go ballistic on the sidelines before. Dr Tom Osborne or Jim Tressel are better ones.

You're probably right, I just wanted to toss a good coach out there and show that their personalities that the fans see don't always mean how good of a coach they are. Wins and losses well, those do show it.

The fans look at last night's game and say it's a must win for hopes of a successful season. The team from the coaching staff on down did not seem to have that same sense of urgency. The no huddle offense never really had Minnesota back on its heels, because it is just too damn slow. And because the score was so close, the play calling never really deviated from the game plan. The best thing that happened in the Northwestern game was that SU was down 3 scores late and had to adjust. Last night they just stayed the course went through the motions and came home with another "close" loss.

In could care less about the emotion he shows or doesn't. As I mater of fact I probably prefer a cool head. This is about coaching not TV personality. Some of the best coaches were stoic. Bear Bryant, John McKay, Shula, Landry, etc.

Go away. That doesn't fit the narrative. This team repeatedly shot itself in the foot against Northwestern and Minnesota and lost two winnable games. Why can't you understand this happened as a direct result of Marrone's demeanor during games?

Really? And you know this how?

Saban's the same way and his teams sucks as well.
No he is not. Nick is involved with his players and coaches. He doesnt take a stroll down the sideline and hang by himself. Not even close to as detached that DM is.
