No way SU should get beat up like this

Disagree. This FSU team may well be the best college football team since 2001 Miami.

I'm not shocked one bit. I'm shocked they even punted.

Its a shame that our two 'prime time' games this year have been embarrasments. The ghost of Grob continues

Syracuse (right now) is a low-level BCS football school witha 5-7 win max type season and they are playing a mini-NFL team who in early May will rent out a hotel in NYC to bring all the guys who will be drafted in the first 3 rounds. I don't care if Marrone is here or not we would have gotten ours doors blown off today

It's ok. Just need the team to get over it (again).

Total yardage is 503 - 94. Ouch. FSU is focused, we were obviously intimidated from the start.

I will say if FSU ends up with more POINTS than Syracuse has total yards...might be time to re-evaluate things

Name one position where SU has outrecruited FSU over the last 3-4 years.

Punter maybe?

You can't stop what you can't catch.

FSU has a chance to beat Alabama. Everyone should have expected this. Everyone on their team is bigger and faster. At least we didn't lose to SMU today. I'd rather be beaten down by the FSU's as opposed to the Cincy's of the world. FSU is the best program in one of the best football states, this is no surprise.

fsu has beat every acc team by about the same amount except for sleeping in an early game against BC. they played an A+ game today.

I probably have, RE: Georgia Tech 2003ish, Purdue right around that time, but rarely have I seen a team that clicked on EVERY play, offense and defense against us like what we saw today. Even when we played the great Miami teams, the plays were more competetive than this.

Yup, we don't even belong on the field with FSU. I have never seen that with the 'cuse. Ever.

The thing I fear though , is you are getting to a football landscape with , say, (3) Power Teams that are separated from the rest of the pack by a huge margin. If you are a Syracuse, Illinois etc, you have games like today that show you that to get to the top, its probably going to take a lightning in a bottle moment. Doing it systemically looks just about impossible.
How hard will it to put fannies in the seats and grow the program when the best you can hope for is 7-4 range, an invite to the Belk bowl? And in that 7-4 resume are three blowouts the size we use to lay on Rutgers and Buffalo. That's the part that kept going thru my head as I watched this, and tried to talk myself into ignoring what I was seeing, that we were just playing a special team. But putting it context stopped me from totally throwing this game in the scrap heap.

FSU doesn't really need a punter. And when they did today, he gave them one for 47 yds. Their 2 kickoff returns sucked. That is all they sucked at.

Some people will never get it. College football today is dramatically different that it was in the 90's. The gap between the have's and the have not's is greater. There will always be exceptions to the rule, and some unexpected close games will break out, but generally speaking, teams like FSU, Clemson, half of the SEC, maybe Oregon, Stanford, Ohio ST, and some other teams have gapped us big time. We should never give up but, personally, I hope we can become a consistent 8-4 team in the future. Playing Fla ST, Clemson, and a road game in NJ against a top program every year are going to make it tough to consistently be more than that

I just don't understand why Marrone was mentioned. Oh wait, was this thread created just to slam HCSS?! Lol Now that is full of fail but if it makes you feel better go for it little buddy.

I have felt FSU is the best team in the county all along. They have much more then a chance to beat Bama. I fully expect them to win. I don't think many are surprised with the result I was just hoping for a little more competitive game. There were a few non talent related things that we could have done better

The only thing is that Alabama has such a good power offense and FSU's only weak point (and I use that term pretty loosely) is against power teams. Otherwise, I agree with you.

If anyone thinks we just rolled over then they are idiots. Did you see the size of those players next to ours. Did you see the speed difference. We are not on the same planet as Fsu. Marrone would have been rolled over just like Shafer did. If people can't see we are still in a rebuild and think Shafer isn't a good coach then move on and don't come back. We don't need you. Go bandwagon the basketball team. Marrone had a 5th year seasoned qb with a 1 rd draft pic in Pugh protecting him. Also we had receivers that could catch. Learn the game of football before you speak up.

I think what is embarassing to me is that we are a bowl team. There are too many bowl games if we're considered a bowl team. We are very inconsistent and our team now doesnt seem to compare with the bowl teams we had in the 90s.

I almost think the lower level bowls are there to "balance" this talent gap. Look at our 2 Pinstripe appearances. Our wins there made 2 above-mediocre teams "feel" more successful than they actually were.
I'm not embarrassed by the game today one little bit. I see it for the reality of what it is.

And they also scored 40

Against a team that was steamrollered in their bowl game, not a team going to play for the national championship.
