The conference home will be decided by whoever eventually takes over as the AD and President Herbst (assuming she is at UConn).  To that note, Ollie has a great relationship with Herbst.  Considering the conference alignment will be/has been driven by football, I doubt very much the amount of input the UConn head basketball coach will have.  How much did Boeheim have?  Or Dixon?
 
Head coaching is more than X's and O's and recruiting in this day and age?  Not sure what has been added?  There is NCAA, media, hiring assistants, relationships with AD's and Presidents of the University, but all those existed before.  I guess there is keeping rich alumni happy, esp. those that have close ties to the basketball program, like all the NBA guys (but they love Ollie).  There is knowing AAU teams/organizations, but Ollie does.  
 
If he can keep one of the 3 ex-head coaches (Blaney, Miller, Hobbs) in the George Blaney role or hire someone like Dave Leito he should be fine.
 
On the flip side, how confident are you as a Cuse fan having Mike Hopkins take over?  Whenever you lose a HOF coach other teams will rejoice until the replacement proves himself.
