Syracuse took this series because Dr. Gross needed the $$$ for the athletic department because he was spending a ridiculous amount of money on a bloated budget and needed the advance he got from MetLife to try and balance that budget as much as he could. Gross screwed the SU FB season ticket holders in Syracuse because he was mismanaging the athletic budget which wasn’t the fans fault. The Notre Dame series was a mistake and Dr. Gross would admit it if he wouldn’t get blasted for it. The Jake C series was just an embarrassment. Notre Dame at the Dome wasn’t worth a 1-2* when Michigan/Tennessee/Florida States/Auburn powerhouses would play us 1 for 1. * note for college football fans. Our 2003 win over ND actually swung the NC that season. The old BCS used to use opponents opponents record when calculating the numbers. Our win over Notre Dame was the last week of the season. USC was second in the computers that last week. Our win over ND hurt the Trojans computer numbers and helped LSU pass USC on the last weekend of the season. Thus Syracuse helped LSU win the BCS national title. If ND beats SU then USC plays Oklahoma. [/QUOTE]
