Which team should be No. 1 in college basketball?

  • 31%
    Kentucky

  • 54%
    Ohio State

  • 5%
    Syracuse

  • 10%
    Other

Even if we were currently number 1 in both polls and this scandal wasn't going on, we'd still get beat by "Other".

Other = UNC. And I would agree as of today, they would beat us in a 7 games series.

I think we really underestimate our defense. Probably the best in the country. Our offense needs to be better though. That being said, we created alot of open shots against UF, we just couldnt hit the broad side of a barn. I think Fab/Dion/CJ/Southerland will get a ton better as the season goes on.

UNLV beat them. Do we lose to UNLV?

No question if we played UNLV in Vegas in a one off they could beat us. Especially if they go 13-32 from 3.

This early in the season, rankings don't matter.

Quoting Scoop after one of the preseason-NIT games: "Just win..." and the ratings will take care of themselves.

I'm starting to get the impression that this team might approach the 09-10 team's ceiling.

This team certainly has the POTENTIAL to reach or exceed the 09-10 team's ceiling. In fact I think it has the potential to be much better. Conversely, it doens't take to much imagination to think of how they could potentially be much worse. The fact of the matter is only time will tell. I think it's great that they played horrible offensive game against a pretty good team and still found a way to win.

Well one positive is if somehow Fab goes down before the tourney I am quite positive that Baye/Xmas cant be worse than Jackson/Riley. That was just shenanigans.

I think it largely depends on how much Melo can continue to develop. He is already starting to look like a beast on defense and showing flashes on offense. One thing I saw from Melo that really impressed me was a play where he flashed out to get a hand in the face of a defender on the baseline, the ball came back (I think it was an offensive rebound, but my brain is foggy) to a UF player on the opposite side of the lane and Melo recovered in time to get block the shot. He was called for goal tending, but the fact that he made the recovery that quickly impressed the hell out of me.

In my view, we need Melo to be a consistent low post threat in order for this team to reach its potential. I don't think any of the other forwards provide that at this point. I think we need to be able to get the ball inside and score it if we are truly going to be good. Given UF's makeup we should have been able to do this more last night, but our offense really looked stagnant at times in the second half -- 100% perimeter oriented.

Sweet 16 is a possibility if that's what you're implying.

No that's not what I'm implying.

But I enjoy your misinformed perspectives--like how you commented on last night's press conference without ever seeing it.

Classic...and typical

Well we didn't lose so he had nothing to complain about. Sure as he'll would have had 20 posts had we lost.

That was a tremendous play. He was decisive on both ends of that one.

Ah ha! The transitive property!! I love it. Faulty logic is our constant companion in this world and you, in this case, are its bearer.

Hey you know what? In '09 we lost to Lemoyne and went 6-0 against Top 10 teams. Lemoyne clearly would have gone undefeated and run away with the National Title in 09-10.

Hey, you know what? Faulty logic is also saying Other= UNC and then throwing Lemoyne out there. I'm not going to play idiot internet games with who can beat who. I like our chances against any team in the country.

every school's fan but 3 get to vote other, its not a surprise.

And TBH, having a #1 ranking would just make SU get attacked even harder for the Fine Mess. If that's possible.

What are you talking about? Remember what this thread is about? The poll results linked above? A poll that lists UK, OSU, SU, and Other. And people were upset about Other getting more votes than Cuse. UNC is a glaring omission on that poll and clearly those that voted "Other" are 90% voting UNC.

Totally agree with this.

Syracuse is better than UNC and would beat them in a hypothetical 7 game series. Syracuse's size would wear down Zeller and Henson, they are like tooth picks. Same goes for Kentucky, Davis would be taken out of the game. It would be up to their guards to win the game. I can see a lot of run outs on missed 3's and turn overs by their guards.

Shouldn't be a surprise since every fan of every other team that isn't listed on the poll is included in other. 300+ schools versus 1?
