Other = UNC. And I would agree as of today, they would beat us in a 7 games series.
I think we really underestimate our defense. Probably the best in the country. Our offense needs to be better though. That being said, we created alot of open shots against UF, we just couldnt hit the broad side of a barn. I think Fab/Dion/CJ/Southerland will get a ton better as the season goes on.Other = UNC. UNLV beat them. Do we lose to UNLV?
Well one positive is if somehow Fab goes down before the tourney I am quite positive that Baye/Xmas cant be worse than Jackson/Riley. That was just shenanigans. This team certainly has the POTENTIAL to reach or exceed the 09-10 team's ceiling. In fact I think it has the potential to be much better. Conversely, it doens't take to much imagination to think of how they could potentially be much worse.
This early in the season, rankings don't matter.
Quoting Scoop after one of the preseason-NIT games: "Just win..." and the ratings will take care of themselves.
I'm starting to get the impression that this team might approach the 09-10 team's ceiling.
Sweet 16 is a possibility if that's what you're implying.I'm starting to get the impression that this team might approach the 09-10 team's ceiling.

No that's not what I'm implying.
But I enjoy your misinformed perspectives--like how you commented on last night's press conference without ever seeing it.
Classic...and typical
I think it largely depends on how much Melo can continue to develop. He is already starting to look like a beast on defense and showing flashes on offense. One thing I saw from Melo that really impressed me was a play where he flashed out to get a hand in the face of a defender on the baseline, the ball came back (I think it was an offensive rebound, but my brain is foggy) to a UF player on the opposite side of the lane and Melo recovered in time to get block the shot. He was called for goal tending, but the fact that he made the recovery that quickly impressed the hell out of me.
In my view, we need Melo to be a consistent low post threat in order for this team to reach its potential. I don't think any of the other forwards provide that at this point. I think we need to be able to get the ball inside and score it if we are truly going to be good. Given UF's makeup we should have been able to do this more last night, but our offense really looked stagnant at times in the second half -- 100% perimeter oriented.

Ah ha! The transitive property!! I love it. Faulty logic is our constant companion in this world and you, in this case, are its bearer.
Hey you know what? In '09 we lost to Lemoyne and went 6-0 against Top 10 teams. Lemoyne clearly would have gone undefeated and run away with the National Title in 09-10.
Hey, you know what? Faulty logic is also saying Other= UNC and then throwing Lemoyne out there. I'm not going to play idiot internet games with who can beat who. I like our chances against any team in the country.
