and Marrone noted it earlier today but they are starting to get banged up a little. Still in much better shape than the last three years but it could have an impact.

I noticed that Shamarko had an orange sleeve over his right arm. It looked like there was a wrap or brace under it.

Any word on Goggins?

my kid had a brace with a black sleeve, they looked alike. his and shamarko's

Good test to see if the improved depth is real or just something we've bought into.

The depth has improved quite a bit, but nobody should kid themselves, the program is still playing from behind in that department.

well we know half or more of the db's have been playing hurt.. looked like several Dline guys got dinged last week. we have 5 Rbs who play and at least 3 have been nicked and who knows after last week. several Wrs have been hurt.. one thing about the school being closed they can spend more time getting treatments without missing class time. of course thats only if the training staff comes into work.

Ahh, we're fine relatively speaking and compared to other teams.

Compared to years past we are incredibly healthy.

Come on...

Teams should be banged up eight games in.

That is not a play this year.

I don't disagree with that.

At some point if we're going to claim we have a full roster it should be doing full roster things.

At this point what team isn't really... Lets get to 6 wins no excuses

Completely agree. The difference between this year and the previous few years is that said injuries would decimate our depth at key positional units and impair what we can do on saturdays. Not suggesting that some injuries wouldn't hamper us, but I don't think that's the case as much this year given the injuries we've sustained. For us [thankfully, welcome change] this is just normal final third of the season stuff.

Just another reason this team needs to play in the 1st and 2nd quarters like they play in the 3rd. Do that and maybe they can get a little rest in the 4th.

Time for the backups to step up and for the coaches to understand when to take a starter out and give him a rest. This is when the coaches earn their bonus...can they figure out when it's better to sub than to leave a beat up guy out there...is there too much of a drop off when they sub and when the starter may begin to hurt the team because he can't do the things he usually does. In other words, is a 50-90% starter still better than his replacement?

Anyone have the WAR calcs?

Keeping this in context, many teams have lost key playmakers. We have 3 or 4 defenders who might miss a game or are playing with injuries; Goggins & Thomas are among our most valuable defenders.

We started the season with Pugh, Flemming, Stevens sidelined; we had Reddish miss a game; Kobena out for 2 or 3 games. AAM & Broyld were out for one game and might be week to week. We have most of those players back.

Our OL is intact (and key reserves who have started are healthy); top two TEs intact; top three WRs intact; QB hasn't missed a snap except in mop-up (or when he lost his helmet); top two RBs intact. On the D side, the starting LBs are intact (but likely dinged after 8 games), the 2 top reserve LBs are intact (one is a former starter), we rotate DBs and have spares who at this stage have experience, we play 8 guys in the DL and some of the non-starters (Jones, Robinson) are coming on.

That is a solid team entering November.

Don't shoot the messenger, just passing on the news.

Not shooting anyone; sorry we don't have Goggins & Sharmarko at full strength, and maybe there is injury news other than what was disclosed.

But sometimes people aren't looking at the positives.
Example -- some say we are young & inexperienced, but when you make the comparisons, we aren't. Many teams are playing RFs and even true frosh in key roles; we have a fifth year QB and veterans in key roles, we are playing only a few true sophs.

Example -- some say we are banged up. Whether you look at our recent teams, or our rivals, we are in very good shape to compete.

Time for the Orange to be positive -- no excuses.
