They outdid themselves this year which is saying something.

Dayton playing on their home court in a play-in game? What is this? The women's tournament? Unbelievable. Congrats Boise State. Sorry you're not from a P5 Conference or we wouldn't have hosed you like that. No way on earth Dayton should have been the lowest seeded at large berth. Even with the play-in games they're worried about maximizing attendance.

Consensus was that Miami and Temple got hosed as their resumes were much better than UCLA or IU. Of course the latter two are big state universities with outsized political influence and very large fan bases, ie they travel and bring more eyeballs. It's all about the money.

Yet these guys make claims about losing institutional control. Lol they make mobsters blush.

This happens every year. The tournament is to determine the best team in the country. It's not like Miami or Temple were going to win anyways. Bubble teams put themselves into a position to not make the tourney and deal with the consequences of not having a more impressive resume.

As for Dayton, who cares. I'd rather have them in a play-in game in Dayton than automatically in the field to avoid the "home" game. Again, not a threat to make it to Indy.

So the only considerations revolve around the teams that have legit chances to win it all? That's goofy.

So, you knew UConn would win the last two tournaments that they won? Or N.C. State. You get in to the tournament based on merit. Once that is not true, what's the point?

Yes, that's exactly what I said. What is your proposed solution for something that is planned months prior to the field being selected?

We're talking about an 11th seed here in UCLA. As soon as an 11th seed wins it all, I'll eat my words. Otherwise, if you complain about teams not making it, you only have yourself to blame by not putting together a better resume.

#11 seeds have been to the F4. They earned a lot of $$$ and prestige for their programs. Tell them it didn't matter whether they got an invite.

There are teams outside of the field that could have been to the final four too. I will tell them the same thing. You should have been better and not left it up to the committee. You act like this doesn't happen every year and that it's an outrage this year. Are you enjoying your first tournament?

I don't blame the NCAA for placing Dayton in Dayton if they truly felt they were one of the last 4 at-large teams in the field. They shouldn't be rewarded with a better seed or left out of the field entirely in order to avoid that, and lining up a contingency venue is surely a logistical impossibility.

Lol the fact that it's happened before makes it right?

That's a big "if" in your first sentence. I have a hard time believing the Committee wasn't motivated by $$$ in giving Dayton a home game. In any event, how on earth is it fair to the higher seeded Boise State to have to play a lower seed on their home court?

It's not.

Sadly, that's how actual matters of importance like Supreme Court rulings work. They call it precedent. If one mistake is made, it is then considered right for the rest of time.

Here's the fun thing about Boise State. Yes, they lost in their conference tournament, but they were ranked in the top 25 last week! And suddenly they're in a PLAY-IN game!?
