TAMU was #2 on the most important rivals list. TAMU saw Arkansas as their #1 rival (which is part of the reason they wanted in the SEC), then TCU at #2 (until the SWAC fell apart) and then Texas at #3. I agree that the Longhorn network influences Texas outlook and that the ACC would be target #1. Probably a ND type of deal wherein they keep the LHN.
