One thing that hasn't changed is the defense and its abysmal performance. The defense was down 21-0 without having played a single down. Notre Dame ran the ball 24 times for 13.7 yards per carry. That is insane.

The defense was fresh. How does this happen? Is our talent disparity that far from ND? You knew they would run the ball a lot with a three TD lead -- how do you not load up against the run and have your linebackers closer to the line of scrimmage or run blitz? Love is a great player - might be the Heisman winner. But c'mon - 8 for 171 and 3 TD's would be tough to do against an FCS school.

Elijah Robinson can't be the DC next year - given the last two years and what we have seen, it's clear to anyone who has watched the majority of the games that our defense, and particularly the defensive line, is atrocious. Isn't that the position he coached and hung his hat on? And made his mark with other schools?

If Fran truly has "already learned", he'd send Elijah Robinson packing. But blood is thicker than water, and that ain't happening. So has Fran REALLY learned?
