The 911 was something I always wanted. So as soon as I could afford one, I got it.
 
But the things it did well were things you don't need unless you commute every day through the Black Forest to Stuttgart. It was temperamental and very expensive to maintain. When the white-coated mechanic came out from the back of the shop to explain to you just what the problem was and how much it was going to cost to fix it, it was always exciting. And when he started with "ze parts may have to be ordered from ze old country", you knew you were in trouble.
 
I'm reminded about that old saying about boat ownership. The two best days are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.
