Take a hit? We are talking $1M per team tops. That is small potatoes. It isn't something to throw away but it isn't significant. It also ignores the costs of travel, an added loss to your FB team, and the money lost for non FB sports that has to be shared with ND. They take the same amount that they put in. It is a net zero.

IMO the biggest reason to add ND was Bowl tie ins which mean nothing now. That was the same case for the Big East. Better Bowls and being associated with ND was worth a lot more 10 years ago than it is today.

Explain how ND schedules any quality opponent past Columbus Day? No one decent wants to play them late in the year. At best they will play crappy P4s, which will hurt them like it did this year. Where are they getting 10 P4 games when all of the P4 will be at 9 conference games?

They will and can still get big games in September, but past then they will be stuck playing the BCs and Stanfords of the world.

Both the ACC and ND are better off together. In today's environment ND needs the ACC a lot more than the ACC needs ND (assuming ND wants to stay Indy).
