What ND wants is two things that contradict: ND wants to have such clout in ticket sales and TV audience that it can make all kinds of demands on even the Ohio States and Texases. Such schools do not need ND for a single penny of their massive football wealth. The BT and SEC as leagues do not need ND for anything. And on the flip side, ND sees its football are too precious, in every sense, to be tied down to the ACC, which does need  what ND brings.

At some point, if the ACC has not managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat and thereby bring in more money, the Sec and BT between them will be able topic off the 6-8 most valuable ACC members. That will leave the ACC basically dead man walking. And ND then will be whoring to get admitted to the BT. And the BT, which will be half of the total control of the Top Tier CFB post-season, will make ND crawl to agree to what the BT wants.
