College basketball is great. We play a long grueling season followed by a separate but very meaningful short season. From one perspective, we've played nearly 40 games this year just to establish seeding for the NCAA tournament. This is now the real season with 6 more victories possible and any loss resulting in the end of the season. Could it be any more exciting or dramatic? We started the season with a long winning streak, including gritty wins over good teams. It's the longest winning streak in school history and gave us a nice run as the #1 rated team. I've enjoyed this season a lot already.
Now we get to play in the tournament for the national championship. We're a significant player in the college basketball world but we should never take the opportunity to play in the NCAA tournament for granted. We've missed too many tournaments to take that lightly. We're in the tournament and there's no especially good reason we can't win 6 more. This team is talented & inspired and has delivered many good wins. Kudos to them for a great season. They have every good reason to feel good about what they've accomplished, but now we're playing for the title and I expect us to compete with vigor. LGO!!
