Nunzio Campanile

Finally! Coach Campanile will be a fine addition to the staff in his new titles especially the QB Coach position. He has years of experience mentoring QB's including seven All-State QB's from Bergen Catholic.

He is a very positive and smart coach to have on this programs staff, I hope for a long time although Fran thinks he's a HC soon. Not too soon I hope.

Would hate to see him go, but our guys getting interviews like this is absolutely not a bad thing at all. Great to see.
The coaching pipeline has/is established in one year. Nixon/Nunz garnering NFL interest and Ross Douglas to Oregon.

Just as important as player recruitment is being a place young coaches want to be because it's a stop on their own path to success.

And while no correlation Philly would be an interesting place for McCord. Jalen has been injured pretty much every season. A good way to acclimate to the Pro game by getting some injury run and having a really good oline, RB and WR group.

But Bowling Green needs a new HC now...

There probably will be a strong push by the players to name someone already on the staff. Usually is in these situations when a coach takes off from a team on the upswing. If they think they're building something good, fastest way to tear it down is to bring in someone from outside.

I wonder if Dave Clawson might be interested?
Interesting. The football world may really split up into (a) colleges running football like the pros; and (b) colleges running football like the first 100+ years. The biggest question is whether it matters anymore. The way that NIL and conference realignment are destroying the product, I am halfway to being ready to accept FCS football and Big East basketball. If Syracuse needs to squeeze donors to pay players the share of revenue... how are those same donors going to keep pace with the outside NIL funding needs to compete?

The way funding for schools is going we may only have 20-30 schools playing sports in 5 yrs anyway.

Nunzio is safe for now

I'd love it if Fran can keep his stay together through this transition year. Fran I think sees he can't just grab high end starters from the portal like the Biggest 15-20 programs. He has to recruit HS kids and develop them and hope to hold on to them.

If Fran wants to cancel an open Spring game I would support that. Cuse needs to keep blossoming RS Sophs and Jrs

I would just get rid of it. It’s poorly attended and honestly it’s just one less thing to worry about and spend money on.

With the transfer portal and such, what's the point of the spring game anyway?

The roster could have 30 new guys on it between the spring game and August.

I know teams are looking to maximize their time during summer/fall camp, but I would rather they do a FanFest/open practice of some sort in August to get people excited (especially if you have a McCord-like transfer), rather than doing the same old, same old.

very few of those 30 new guys will not be getting any PT in the upcoming season, with the exception of possibly 1 or 2 transfer portal additions after that. And it won't be 30 new guys as there is a large amount of early enrollees that would participate and it would be great to see them.

The point of it is for the fans and trying to generate buzz for the upcoming season. Also it could be used by SU to help sell ticket packages for the upcoming season and also help generate more NIL at that time. That could certainly be a bonus. I still love the info that comes out from it and enjoy watching it. But admittedly i don't make the trip to SU to attend it from out of state.

I definitely would like for it to remain. But if Fran deems it a negative due to risk of losing players as these other coaches seem to think, then yes get rid of it. Just not sure it really is.
