NY POST - Orange's hold on local talent

"...but Syracuse is 250 miles away and UConn and Rutgers are the real NYC teams..., why, they have more graduates in the area and the Empire State Building was lit up in Red for a game one night..."

OK, that sums up the arguments. Great article, nice points about the Orange feel to the game and how Anselmo has locked NYC down. also liked teh quip from teh kid who stated that NYC kids are underrated. That's an understatement! If the ratings people would simply do their job and stop looking to see which school(s) recruits a kid to determine what their real rating is, then the NYC kids would get some (recruiting) love.

Its nice to own NYC but I'd rather dominate in NJ like we used to.

We never "owned" New Jersey--Penn State and Notre Dame did, even when we were at our peak. But we recruited well there, and got more than our fair share of solid players from NJ. Few truly elite recruits [Dulayne Morgan, and maybe one or two others], but the thing about NJ is that the state is so loaded that the next tier of recruiting prospects are still tremendous.
